January 5th saw the Haxey Hood an annual event which is

normally run on the 6th January every year but was brought forward due to the 6th being a Sunday. The weather was dry and the ground had dried out a little from all the rain that has fallen over the past few weeks. The Boggins started at the Carpenters Arms in Westwoodside at 12.0 clock singing a few songs including the Farmers Boy. There was standing room only inside but the Hood regulars most with their faces painted with the letters HH joined in and gave a good chorus backing to the Boggins. Out side the Carpenters it was ten deep all were enjoying the atmosphere of the Hood. This year the sway carried the Hood past the Duke William and onto the Kings. Congratulations once more to The Kings who will now hold the Leather Hood for the next twelve months.
