I believe being creative is more than sitting down and drafting on a piece of paper; it’s a skill within oneself that develops as the mind evolves, nourishing itself from everything that happens around it.

Currently, I am seeking to futher develop my career in architecture in the United States. I am also passionate about interior architecture and currently working towards pushing my creative limits by experimen h design concepts through my fluid artistic vision. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture at the Universidad de Oriente in Santiago de Cuba in 2008 and have been working in the field ever since.

The open-concept design is highlighted by a play of bright colors, white surfaces and exposed concrete texture through the series of meeting room, open-plan workspace, breakout areas and private offices.

EXISTING COLUMNS

An office was needed for Hotwire Communications in the Naples area at Bonita Bay Club. For this layout we had to provide a path from the main building to an electrical pannel existing into the space, that meant less room for the office needs. It was urgent to define where to locate a Headend and then the rest of the space. The owners insisted in to have those 3 private offices in such a small space. The main idea was to have a showroom, that was eventually removed, leaving just a reception area, 3 small private offices, a conference room, one shared office, an open space, the headend, a storage and the electrical room. The scope of work was only inside, without modifying the exterior walls nor the windows. The result is a compact office, with all functions segregated. Natural light was used in the spaces that will be occupied by several people at the same time, and it was possible to leave an access to the electrical panel without disturbing the employees. Once again the branded color for the company were used on selected walls.

When I first started working for Hotwire Communications, one of my assignments was to re-design the executive office at the main building in Florida. I had to expand the largest of the existing offices in order to accommodate a large desk, a conference table, a small custom-made wardrobe, TV, a mini fridge, a sofa and an assistant’s desk. The owner requested a pale color palette but also allowed me to use some of the branded colors for the Company. She was also very specific about the requirements for the desk and the rest of the pieces that complete the room.

Residential Beach House Puerto Cayo, Manabi |Ecuador

The Beach House, is located in Puerto Cayo, Manabi, a sleepy fishing village on the Pacific coast with long stretches of sandy beach. This location is filled with treasures of spotted with seashells, colorful pebbles and amazing sunsets. The parcel of 2,000 SqFt sits on a privileged location in front of the ocean. The house is organized along the coast intended to maximize the views afforded by the site.

Floor Plan

The design is based on clean-lined geometric forms, white concrete and timber cladded walls to create a tropical take on modernist architecture. The layout includes two bedrooms, two bathrooms and an open concept living room-kitchen-dining room alongside a large deck overlooking the Puerto Cayo coast. One of the goals of the wood elements is to protect the residents from the intense equatorial sun in addition to keeping the house closed during three months of the year in which it will remain vacant. Large sliding glass panels were incorporated to the facade in the living area. They can be opened to let the coastal breeze flow into the house. Section

Hotel Renovation Santiago de Cuba|Cuba

The hotel Cubanacán Punta Gorda takes its name from the peninsula where it is located, twenty minutes from the center of Santiago de Cuba. This building was uninhabited for several years, until the Ministry of Tourism decided to make an investment to remodel the property. The main concept was to incorporate naval motifs into the design. The building was constructed in rationalist style of the 50’s. For the last century, the building was home to headquarters of the Club Náutico de Santiago. This location is an icon for sailors who arrive to Santiago de Cuba by yacht. The scope of work included the renovation of all the rooms and suites, a specialized restaurant with a terrace, all outdoor areas and wooden platforms facing the sea. The platforms were designed with jacuzzis where you can relax with a glass of wine while watching the sunset. The entire outdoor area became a tropical walk along the entire length of the wall that separates the Hotel from the bay.

1 Floor Plan

One of the first projects after finishing my university studies, was the remodeling of several buildings in the Border Troops Unit, located at the bay of Santiago de Cuba.

Section 1-1

I started sculpting the walls around the desired entrance, playing with the fundamental architectural elements and principles, taking away the usual references by using curved walls, different ceiling heights and light. The access unfolds by a slope between two concrete walls, turned away from the street and oriented towards the gardens and other buildings of the complex. The result is an asymmetric composition that leans towards a dynamic and modern style. The materials used are locally sourced and the color palette is reminiscent of the brand colors.

Clinic

School Poject | Team work with Hortensia Ferrer

The project consisted of developing a medical facility for outpatient services and an urgent care space. The program was developed using a reference one of the largest, 2nd most prominent in the country, the Oncology Hospital.

Floor Plan

According to the programatic needs of the specialties, I designed two boxes, each one with an internal open volume. The boxes became consultation rooms and the open volumes were developed into interior gardens allowing natural ventilation and lighting for each room. Even though the emergency room had special access on one side, all the spaces are connected to each other by corridors that run through the whole hospital. The main lobby is located in the center of the building and the consultation rooms, laboratories and offices wrap the sides of the building.

Theater

School Poject | Team work with Hortensia Ferrer

Floor Plan

A wavy extension covered in a shiny skin of metal panels and glass marks the entrance to this theater. The most striking addition to the building’s facade is a cluster of intersecting geometric volumes that surround the entrance of the double height lobby.

North Facade

The bulding acommodate one auditorium with 300 seats and its walls will be covered with wooden lamellas to improve acoustics. Large windows will give outline to the main facade on the North side and favor visual communication with the exterior area. The height of the foyer can be utilised simultaneously for a variety of commercial functions. This enables flexible programming for public an private events, shows and conferences.
