Linda Gail Barnes, 58, passed away on Monday, February 13, 2023 at Hidden Lake Care Center in Raytown Missouri. She was born on Thursday, August 27, 1964 in Columbus, Georgia to Thomas E. Barnes and Bessie M. Lucas Barnes. Linda grew up in Kansas City Kansas and graduated from Washington High School in Kansas City Kansas in 1982.

Following high school, Linda attended Park University and Saint Mary’s University, graduating with a bachelors degree. After receiving her degree, she relocated and worked in Atlanta, GA for a number of years before returning to Kansas City.

Shortly after returning to Kansas City, Linda met Patrick Nelson. Their first date was on her birthday in 2009 and they were married on March 6, 2010 in Kansas City, Kansas. They were happily married 12 years, three weeks shy of 13 years.

Linda was a member of Forest Grove Baptist Church. She worked for Sprint and most recently for Cerner Corporation until her health began to fail.

Linda enjoyed art, going to movies, live theater, all types of music, fashion and traveling with her husband. Some of their favorite places to travel were Florida, Las Vegas and Mexico.

Linda is survived by her husband, Patrick J. Nelson, Raytown, MO; son, Cassellas Barnes, Raytown, MO; children, Nathaniel (Emily) Brown, OP, KS; Brantel Nelson, Raytown, MO; Mauntris Nelson and Aaron Schomaker, both of Omaha, KS; father, Thomas Barnes; mother, Bessie Barnes; both of Kansas City, KS; brothers, Jeffrey J. (Teresa), Kansas City, KS; Thomas E. Barnes II, Boise, ID and nephew, Bryce Barnes. Others that will cherish her memory are Modeal (Wanda) Nelson Jr., Kansas City, KS; Thomas (Marva) Nelson, Fayetteville, AR, Arnetta Peghee and Richard Nelson both of Kansas City, KS and a host of grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
