Who Are Ya? With his distinctive pony tail Raul Llorente looks like an extra from Miami Vice but he is already dealing Class A performances for CD Tenerife. The 25 year old left back has added an incisive attacking edge down that flank and looks comfortable on the ball in defence. Born in Madrid, Raul started out with Atletico Madrid where he first met Pablo Sicilia and Victor Bravo, his future Tenerife team mates. Raul’s early performances in the Segunda B got him noticed and the call came to play for Spain at Under 17 level including five games in the World Championships. Away from the pitch Raul is a keen flamenco guitarist and wants to learn Chicharrero de Corazon, we will be having a collection to buy him a Bert Weedon teach yourself guitar book. Maybe when we are promoted at the last game of the season he can join us in the stand for a jamming session with the drummers. For now though it’s good to have him back on the pitch after serving his one match ban, his presence helps to bind the back four together.

How disappointing was that result last Sunday? After winning four on the trot, including a couple of epic wins, Tenerife travelled to the bottom team and lose, typical! Manager Tébar stated two days before that he was fuming with the weeks lacklustre training and asked the players to produce a syringe full of blood so he could daub on the changing room wall "EXIGENCIA" - (requirements). At the time fans were pleased that we finally have a coach with character, but on reflection, after the defeat perhaps he went too far? Players remarked that the outburst upset the fantastic atmosphere in the camp after four wins. I am sure that with this manager, even if we do not achieve promotion we will at least give it a bloody good go. Today´s game will go someway to decide who are the best team in our division. We have been blitzed by injuries and suspensions recently. Congo/Belgian Kitoko, our ever present midfielder and many would say our best player is out for 8 weeks, a big blow. Why couldn’t it have been Kiko Raton?! That guy couldn’t pass wind and I won´t even do the one about "scoring in a brothel". Lastly, thanks to everyone for the fund raising last week; I gave 252€ to the Frente Blanquiazul. Earlier this season we raised on the bus 440€ for the baby that needed a transplant and I am happy to say that "Giovanny" is now doing well and back at home. There will be a fan display today in the stadium so lets try to get inside a few minutes earlier than normal. Also please be careful crossing the road when the coach stops even though I realise that first beer is important!
