Where are they now? Let’s have a look at some recent players of ours who are still playing rather than stacking shelves at Mercadona.
Nico Speedy midfielder who slipped down the pecking order and onto the bench. Looked good running at players and taking corners. If he thought he was unlucky not to stay with us, it got worse. A loan to Guadalajara never came to anything so he joined Salamanca – who went bust. Now with Ontinyent also in Group 3 of the Segunda B.
Jorge Perona He had a good scoring record in Segunda B and started well in our first season at that level but tailed off. Famous for his hand stand celebration he is now 31, after leaving us he joined Cartagena and is now with Valencia based Huracan who lead Group 3 of Segunda B. Last season he managed just 7 goals but doesn’t feature in Huracan’s top three scorers this time.
Kiko Raton A bruising English style centre forward, shame if you only caught his second spell with CDT rather than his three best years in the Segunda. Kiko is still banging them in for his home town team in Puerto de la Cruz, now 37 he is the joint top scorer in the Preferente with 16 goals despite his team struggling. Last week Kiko opened a new restaurant La Pizarra.
Zazo Fierce midfield player who liked to get stuck in. Maybe deserved a longer run in the starting line up but was released and went to Guadalajara. Zazo has settled well there and at 31 he is a key player with a contract until June 2015. Cristobal Juncal Steady right back who never got above Segunda B. After leaving us he dropped to the Tercera with Pontevedra but this season has risen again to serve Coruxo. He was a keen amateur magician but unless he can discover eternal youth he is on last orders at 32 yrs old.
matches. Beforehand I would have definitely taken the four out of ral awaypoints on our travels, so, happy enough with that. The aim of El Gene sixsurvival in this first season back in the 2nd division is nearing. 50 to 52 It´s good to be back after a three week break due to two consecutive
points will do it, so another 12 to 14 needed. Unless we suffer a total collapse it shouldn’t be a problem. So what then? I think we can rule out a direct promotion (top two), we haven’t quite enough this time around. But a top six position, why not? We will probably find out where we are at about 6.50 pm today as today’s visitors are clear-cut promotion candidates. A big loss for us today however will be centre half Carlos Ruiz. The last time he was missing we lost at home to Alcorcon 0-4 in January! It is expected that youngster Alberto will take his place, so of the back five, four players will be from the Island. Perhaps relying on local talent has been slightly forced on Tenerife due to lack of funds, but whatever happens this season it is something we should be proud of, and bodes well for the future (9 Canarians played last week! Ed). See, I got through a whole editorial without mentioning wonderkid Ayoze! Doh!!!

Chris Todd For the remainding seven games of the season Armada Sur will allow all children under 14 to travel free (unless they are taller than me that is). This does not include match ticket but we will be pressurising the club to start special initiatives on that front as well. Anthony Cracknell Nice touch Chris will save me a few quid or maybe extra dorada. Chris Todd hang on Anthony, your 9 yr old son IS taller than me. Only joking, see you Sunday. Anthony Cracknell Ha chris well i did not want to say anything. Colin Kirby Interesting photo in the Canarian press today of Alvaro Cervera at a Guamasa restaurant a few days ago with our former midfielder Vitolo. The ex Panathanaikos player is now a free agent and has said that money would not be a barrier to him returning to CDT next season. Chris Todd Comical banner made by Rayo Vallecano fans at weekend. They are at war with their chairman, Martin Presa, who they claim is corrupt and they think he should join the ex-president of Sevilla "Del Nido" who is already behind bars. The banner is like a letter "Dear Martin Presa, I am waiting for you in prison. I need someone to pick up the soap for me. Yours sincerley Del Nido."
