DESTRESS AT THE OHM-AZING PLAYFUL YOGI SPACE Nyack Location Now Open

Playful Yogi Space in Orangeburg is an aptly named studio. Tucked away in Bell-ans, a former pharmaceutical factory converted to a center for creative and healing arts, the space perfectly reflects the playful spirit of its owner Naomi Camilleri. The sunny, inviting and tranquil studio is an ideal place to relax, the kind of spot where people gather to unwind and have fun, which is Naomi’s goal. Playful Yogi Space has been her long-time dream, and she is thrilled to be sharing her vision.

“I love teaching, and I love our spaces,” said Naomi, a devout believer in the benefits of yoga who enjoys sharing her knowledge and has cultivated a loyal following of students from both Rockland and Bergen counties. Her clients vary in age and skill, yet they’re all welcome to practice in the studio’s “playful” space. The supportive community she cultivates is inclusive and relaxed; even students who just want to “lie down and breathe” without actually following the class are welcome.

The Rockland native has been practicing for nearly two decades and has worked as an instructor in the field for over six years; she opened her first studio two years ago and now a second location in Nyack in September. Playful Yogi Space is the only yoga studio in Rockland to offer its members two practice locations, and its success is no doubt a result of Naomi’s passionate dedication.

Naomi specializes in Vinyasa as well as Yin Yoga, a style that focuses on the soft tissue of the body. Vinyasa is a more active form of yoga that involves “flowing from posture to posture,” emphasizing moving through a sequence of positions rather than holding any one for a long period. Yin Yoga utilizes long holds in supported postures to allow deep release in the ligaments and joints. According to Naomi, the Yin method
