Employee of the Year Congratulations to Arkansas Valley Electric’s Employee of the Year for 2013, Don Easom. He was selected for this honor by his fellow employees and given the award at the cooperative’s annual employee banquet. On receiving the award, Don commented, “it was a great honor because I was selected by my co-workers.” Don started his career at Arkansas Valley in 1985 by working on a Right-of-Way crew. He worked his way up to Journeyman Lineman status, while working on a construction crew, and eventually became a Construction Foreman. He currently is employed as the Substation Technician. “Don’s outgoing personality and experience make him a natural leader in the operations department. His instinctive mechanical ability makes him the ‘go to’ guy for numerous projects”, says Steve Holt, AVECC Operations Manager. “Don’s knowledge and work ethic are top notch. He is the one you want working when the power is out!” Don is married to Deana Easom, and together they have 5 children and 5 grandchildren. He enjoys woodworking, gardening, farming, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren.
