The credo project

First, a few things we believe… We believe in the power of CREDO. We believe the act of describing the core values that guide our daily lives can profoundly impact the way we live. We believe that writing a personal credo has enormous implications for members of the law enforcement community. Over the past year, author Rabbi Cary Friedman and Phillip LeConte, co-founder of the Police Chaplain Project, have been working with members of the law enforcement community on THE CREDO PROJECT, special educational initiative dedicated unlocking the power of CREDO in daily life.

WR I TING YOU R CR ED O Every person ought to have a credo -- after all, life can get pretty complicated, and a credo can provide direction in even the most bewildering circumstances. Five minutes with Google will acquaint you with some beautiful credos written by wise and accomplished people throughout history. WHAT IS CREDO? Although credos take many forms, for the purposes of this project think of CREDO as a sentence or two that conveys the operating principle that guides your daily life. If it helps, think of your credo as a “TO DO” note you write to yourself – a reminder of how you should go about satisfying all the other TO DOs still to be done. Treat each…. Seek out… Tell others… Always look for… …are just a few ways your CREDO might begin. SO ME TIPS BEF ORE YOU START: Take some time to reflect before you commit pen to paper. A credo is highly personal expression. It is a portal through which you enter the realm of spirituality. So keep it real. Make it your own. Spiritual values that remain shadowy, vague and unclear possess no real power to inspire or strengthen. Your CREDO should ground your beliefs in the events of your life. The more clear and concise you are, the most you are able to tap into the power that exists at your core.
