APA members to observe National Newspaper Week In an extraordinary year where newspapers face head-on the challenges of a global pandemic while reporting on social unrest and an historic election, journalists continue to demonstrate their importance and resiliency. This year, the newspaper industry will pause to recognize the impact of journalism on local communities as part of the annual National Newspaper Week observance. National Newspaper Week is Sunday, Oct. 4 through Saturday, Oct. 10.

The theme of National Newspaper Week 2020 is “America Needs Journalists.” The week is sponsored by News Association Managers (NAM) and the Arkansas Press Association. Journalists in 2020 have overcome major obstacles to deliver the news to readers during a time where “major news events across our land have tested newspapers, in our communities, in ways we might have never fathomed,” said Randy Evans, director of the Iowa Freedom of Information Council.
