Story Time with Bob Molle

E + A + E = Success (E) Energy + (A) Attitude + (E) Enthusiasm = Personal and Professional Success

"Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm" Ralph Waldo Emerson Years ago, I was a sales manager, taking over my very first group of sales people. I had inherited an eclectic assortment of individuals and began to create a strong team. The background of the current team members varied from extensive to extremely limited sales; some people had been with the company for many years while others were relatively new. It did not take me long to realize I was missing a key element - I was in need of 'new blood' on the team. I began to actively recruit and interview; applicants included internal and external candidates. The corporate management team was involved in the interview process and each manager highlighted his or her top three contenders. I still remember the looks on their faces as I shared my number one nominee - the youngest man in the group, who had absolutely no sales experience! Mason was a new university graduate and his previous employment opportunity involved delivering ice bags throughout the summer. While the other managers liked him, Mason's lack of sales experience was the reason others did not believe he was a suitable applicant. You know those moments when something inside is telling you...now is the time? Right here, at this moment, I have an opportunity to trust myself/my judgement and take a stand. To the complete surprise of all managers seated at the table, I stood my ground and became an advocate for this young ice delivery man. I knew that Mason would embrace the power of goals and goal setting. This, in combination with his energy, attitude and enthusiasm are the essential elements for teams to survive and thrive! As President Thomas Jefferson stated, "Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude." I just knew that Mason was going to be a shining star! Eventually, the management team relented and agreed to allow me to hire Mason; however, they also made it perfectly clear - if things did not work out, I would be the one with egg on my face!

I hired Mason that September afternoon. Within the first year, he had exceeded corporate expectations. He loved goal setting - his professional goals were evident. He became one of our top three sales representatives in the entire country, then became the top representative the following year and was promoted to sales manager. Attitude, energy and enthusiasm are three keys you should consider when seeking to add team members. I have learned throughout the years that attitude cannot be taught - choose wisely when you hire! Ralph Waldo Emerson calls it 'enthusiasm.' Look for this when you want to add someone to your team.

"Wake up with a smile and go after life.... Live it, enjoy it, taste it, smell it, feel it" Joe Knapp Sincerely, Bob Molle National Sales Manager Back to top

May Book Review

Seven Habits of Highly Effective People Author Stephen Covey

"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit." Aristotle In The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, author Stephen R. Covey presents a holistic, integrated, principle-centered approach for solving personal and professional problems. With penetrating insights and pointed anecdotes, Covey reveals a step-by-step pathway for living with fairness, integrity, service, and human dignity - principles that give us the security to adapt to change and the wisdom and power to take advantage of the opportunities that change creates. Covey's Seven Habits are rules for life - rules that have the

ability to change your life! Covey defines a habit as, "the intersection of knowledge, skill, and desire." In order to have something become a habit, we must incorporate all three dimensions.

Habits one, two and three focus on self-mastery - moving a person from dependence to independence. Habits 4, 5 and 6 highlight the concepts of teamwork, cooperation and communication. Lastly, habit 7 features the necessity of renewal of the four basic life dimensions: physical, social/emotional, spiritual and mental.

Habit 1 - Be Proactive This is the ability to control one's environment rather than have it control you. Being proactive includes self determination, choice and the power to decide one's response to stimulus, conditions and circumstances.

Habit 2 - Begin with the End in Mind Covey calls this the habit of personal leadership - leading oneself towards projected goals and tasks. By developing the habit of concentrating on relevant activities, you will build a platform to avoid distractions and become more productive and successful.

Habit 3 - Put First Things First Putting first things first is the habit of personal management. This involves organizing and implementing activities in alignment with habits developed for habit 2. Covey believes that habit 2 is the first or mental creation and habit 3 is the second or physical creation.

Habit 4 - Think Win-Win Covey calls this the habit of interpersonal leadership, necessary because achievements are largely dependent on co-operation with others. Win-win is based on the assumption that success follows a cooperative approach more naturally than the confrontation of win-or-lose.

Win/Win Four Step Solution Process 1. View the problem from the other point of view - really try to understand the needs and concerns of the other person. 2. Identify the key issues/concerns rather than the positions. 3. Determine what results would constitute a completely acceptable solution. 4. Identify alternative/new options to achieve desired results.

Habit 5 - Seek First to Understand and Then to be Understood This is Covey's powerful habit of communication, and it's extremely powerful. Covey helps to explain this simply by suggesting, "diagnose before you prescribe." Simple, effective and essential for developing and maintaining positive relationships in all aspects of life.

That which we persist in doing becomes easier - not that the nature of the task has changed, but our ability to do has increased. Emerson

Habit 6 - Synergize Covey believes this is the habit of creative cooperation - the principle that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. This perspective creates the challenge to view the good and potential in the other person's contribution. Covey states, "Valuing the differences is the essence of synergy - the mental, the emotional, the psychological differences between people. And the key to valuing those differences is to realize that all people see the world, not as it is, but as they are."

Habit 7 - Sharpen the Saw This is the extremely important habit of self renewal. This surrounds all of the other habits, enabling and encouraging them to happen and grow. Covey interprets the self into four: spiritual, mental, physical and social/emotional.

I believe the lessons highlighted in this book have the potential to create personal and professional change - I know that I have benefitted from incorporating the lessons learned from Covey. Read the book and keep an open mind - enjoy and remember to 'Sharpen the Saw!' Sincerely, Darren Weeks Back to top

Dress for Success Seldom do people discern eloquence under a threadbare cloak Juvenal Does it really make a difference how you dress in business? YES!!! In today's business climate, appearances do matter. It is absolutely essential that you dress your best in business. According to statistics, 55% of another person's perception of you is based on your appearance. Think about the following - would you wear jeans to meet a prospective client? I will give you a hint... it starts with an 'n'... no, of

course you wouldn't! You never have the opportunity to make a second first impression. To project your professional image, prepare to get 'Suited and Booted!'

Quality vs Quantity 'Suited and booted' is an old English term for very smartly dressed. Give serious consideration to your physical appearance and the image you want to portray. Keep in mind that you do not have to spend $1,500 on a pin-striped suit. Purchasing well-made pants or a skirt with a collared shirt or blouse and jacket is often sufficient to create a polished and professional business appearance. A high-quality piece of clothing will keep its shape/form and have a longer shelf-life than clothing that is less well-made - I always consider quality versus quantity. I will purchase one stylish business suit rather than two suits that are of lesser quality.

Environment Consider the current trends, demographics and location of your meeting. If you are meeting at a restaurant, you may look out of place in a tuxedo and bow tie, but if you are attending a charity gala, you would certainly look out of place in slacks!

Top 10 Basics You don't have to have a shoe collection like Imelda Marcos to achieve a successful look please note the following base wardrobe: Women 1. Basic Black Dress - Can be worn day or night and dressed up or down 2. Classic Trench Coat - Try to find a length that flatters your height 3. Dress Pants - Try to keep the colour neutral 4. Classic Shirt - Preferably white. Try to keep a couple of options in your wardrobe 5. Jeans - Well fitted, good quality. Replace each year to stay trendy 6. Multi-Function Top - Something that can be worn with jeans/skirt or pants 7. Tailored Skirt - Think about your shape and what will flatter you 8. Day Dress - Try to keep it neutral in colour but have fun with a pattern 9. Boyfriend Jacket - Rolled up sleeves, tailored cut, slightly oversized shoulders! 10. Sweat-Suit Alternative - Something you would wear every day that doesn't scream

housecoat! Men 1. Professional Suit - Tailored to fit. Think about trouser length and keep a neutral color 2. White Dress Shirt - Collared always. Try to avoid short sleeves 3. Dark Tie - To compliment day or night, have a selection of different coloured and patterned ties 4. Jeans - Well fitted, good quality, replace each year to stay trendy 5. Casual Shirt - Striped, short sleeve, long sleeve, bold patterns - have some fun! 6. Dress Pants - Neutral color with a non-creasing material 7. T-Shirt - Fitted and fashionable 8. Classic Sweater - A v-neck is always classic! The color is dependent upon the season (i.e. spring is great for pastel colours whereas in the fall, you should look for more earthy tones). 9. Sport Coat - Wear it with slacks, jeans, or khakis - dress it up or dress it down! 10. Coat -Select a dark-coloured coat that will compliment smart and casual.

May Tip One of the hottest trends this spring will be nautical fashion - think navy blue, wide horizontal stripes, red accents and boat shoes! To Your Dressed...Success... Danielle Pearce Back to top

Taxes take up greatest part of household income, Fraser Institute says Monday, April 19, 2010 | By The Canadian Press | Sourse

VANCOUVER, B.C. - A prominent think-tank that's often critical of government spending policies says Canadian families spend more than two-fifths of their total income on taxes.

The Fraser Institute says its annual Canadian Consumer Tax Index calculated that taxes ate up 41.7 per cent of the average family's income in 2009. That's up from 1981 when taxes accounted for 40.8 per cent of a family's income, or 33.5 per cent in 1961 when the Fraser Institute first compiled the index. Back to top

Fast Track Group Success Story

A special thank you to Rick Hoyt, Fast Track Capital Investment Representative, for sharing his personal success story!

"Financial intelligence is simply having more options" Kiyosaki Prior to joining Fast Track Capital, I had been working as a financial advisor for 4 long and tedious years! I originally entered the world of finance to try and help people set up a retirement plan so they wouldn't have to worry about money when they retired. The problem I faced was related to the unpredictability of the market. Due to this, I realized that selling products based on instability didn't work. It didn't work for my customers and it certainly wasn't working for me. I eventually let my license go and completely removed myself from being a financial advisor. Shortly thereafter, I began to focus on real estate. I purchased my first home at the age of 22 and was thrilled to discover that my house was now worth triple what I had paid - real estate became my investment of choice! (Interesting to note - my mutual funds were below 0 yet my house had increased 300%)

My wife picked up the book Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki and my life changed as a direct result of reading this book and taking action! I now understood the power of passive income - having my money work for me while I slept... this excited me! Personally, I was learning and my investment portfolio was increasing - professionally, I knew that I wanted more out of life.

"The poor and the middle class work for money. The rich have money work for them" Kiyosaki I was eating lunch one afternoon and saw an ad in the paper: Darren Weeks would be hosting a free 'How to Get Rich in Canada' seminar in Calgary. I knew I had to attend! I called my wife and asked if she would join me; she immediately said yes. I'll never forget this... I went down to the Big Four building where the event was being held and she saw Darren. At that moment, my wife realized that Darren was in fact, her step-uncle! Darren recognized her in the crowd, stopped by and chatted with us and the rest, as they say, is history! I was absolutely blown away with what I had learned at his evening event. This was the first time the financial educational material was taught and directly applicable in Canada. Throughout the next months, I attended as many events as I could as it was important to me to continue to learn and expand my context. Within the year, I was offered a job with Fast Track Capital as an Investment Representative. I was now in a position where I could help my clients get out of the proverbial 'rat race.' When I sit down with clients and show them how our unique real estate investment deals work, it is exciting to see their eyes light up when they realize that these opportunities add to their financial plan. Since attending my first event over 2 years ago, I am pleased to share that my wife and I have invested (cash and RRSPs) in commercial property, multi-family apartment buildings, land development projects and we have acquired some property in Honduras where we plan on building our dream home! Sincerely, Rick Hoyt Fast Track Capital Investment Representative Calgary, Alberta

"To be the master of money, you need to be smarter than it. Then money will do as it is told. It will obey you. Instead of being a slave to it, you will be the master of it. That is financial intelligence." Kiyosaki Back to top

Oil and oil derivatives in particular are used in millions of everyday products, from the roads we drive on to the medication we take. Fight Aids Save Taxes (F.A.S.T)

Just Finished Filing Taxes? Consider This. Every day we pay a tax whether it is a consumption tax or a tax on our income, indeed it is a burden. What we may not be aware of is the hidden burden of taxation, one the Fraser Institute calls "an economic distortion" 1. Although the Income Tax Act was passed in Parliament as a temporary measure to fund World War I, taxes still remain and the act has grown to become not only a cumbersome and complex document (over 3,000 pages and counting) but also has established a multi-billion dollar industry in Canada. This industry represents between 1.4% and 2.3% of GDP and between 3.5% and 5.8% of federal government revenues.2 This contribution to the economy is not the taxes you pay as a citizen, rather it is the cost of compliance and administration to collect taxes! Have you ever thought of the time it takes you to compile all of the receipts or documentation to file your tax return (time is money...consider your hourly salary rate and multiply it by the time it takes to complete your filing); the cost of the software to e-file; paying your accountant or H&R Block to file on your behalf, perhaps a consultation with your lawyer? These are direct costs associated with your requirement to comply. Total Compliance and Administrative Costs, 2005 (CDN$)3

ADMINISTRATIVE COSTS

Added to this is the cost of the various government agencies federal (CRA), provincial and municipal to collect the taxes. These costs include everything from paying salaries, administration, infrastructure and all other costs associated with running a bureaucracy. Consider that this industry ranks among the top industries in Canada: $26 billion in telecommunications, $28 billion in gas utilities and $43 billion in the trucking industry. 4 So, while we consider the burden of having to pay taxes each and every day of our life we should also consider the added burden of supporting an industry that in effect is adding more cost to each and every individual. In fact, the cost is estimated to be about 2.5% of the tax we pay.5 No wonder we look to ways to minimize tax! ------------1 Valliancourt & Clemens. Partner Opportunities

Where Profit Meets Paradise

Feature Investor: David Bailey David Bailey has been coming to events offered through the Fast Track Group events for years and is a top client. Though Fast Track Capital, he recently invested in the Trujillo Oceanfront Center in Honduras and Fountains at Sun City opportunities. Through Tropical Freedom Properties, he purchased a residential property at Campa Vista. We asked David about

David's Tips for Investing in Foreign Property 

Do your due diligence: check it out

his experiences investing in Honduras and what he liked about these opportunities. "The growth potential and price first drew me to the Honduras investments, and then I chose Honduras because of the potential return on investment in the future through rental income or sale." David also saw a recreational opportunity: "I wanted the opportunity for a vacation and retirement home where I can stay long-term with friends and family and I can rent out the house when I'm not using it." Imagine you've discovered an opportunity to invest. What next? David recommends first beginning your due diligence process by checking out the companies that are involved in the deal. "Fast Track Capital provided a 'hands off' opportunity to invest in real estate," he says, while "Tropical Freedom was offering an opportunity to invest in real estate with great potential for future growth." Once you've found companies like Fast

Visit the location Ask questions Talk to people who have invested in and visited the location Try to keep your emotional drives under control Make sure the investment is right for you

Track Capital and Tropical Freedom Properties that you know you want to deal with, you'll want to learn more about the investment location. "Ask questions and talk to people who have invested in or visited the location," David recommends. You'll want to know if the area expecting any big changes and what the area's future looks like. For example, David found that the investment area in Trujillo, Honduras has a rosy future. In fact, it's poised to become the next big cruise ship destination in Honduras and has many amenities and attractions that will sustain it long-term. Next, if you're able to visit the property in person, do it! When David checked out Life Vision Properties' investment in Trujillo, his first impression was positive. "I thought, 'wow!!!' The house really has been built on the side of a mountain!" He enjoyed Honduras' sunny climate, friendly people, and laid back lifestyle. One of his favourite parts of the trip to check out Honduras was the help and hospitality of Tropical Freedom Properties, Fast Track Capital, Life Vision Properties and Jaguar Construction. Finally, when you're making a decision, it's important to keep your emotions out of it. David agrees that this can be tough when it's your money and your future, but emotions will make your investment decision more difficult. Look at the numbers to keep your decision based on a solid and rational assessment of the facts. You will want to choose an investment that will create cash flow and appreciation for many years to come. Remember that you want value and growth in a property, so look at the area's fundamentals; namely, local transportation, population growth, and work available in the area. Fast Track Capital and Tropical Freedom Properties have teams of experts that analyse every investment opportunity, but you'll want to find out some basic background about your potential property. After David made his decision to invest with Fast Track Capital and Tropical Freedom Properties, he could enjoy taking care of the little details. For example, where exactly do you

find furnishings in Honduras? Life Vision Properties pointed the way to San Pedro Sula, where an exploratory trip turned up high-quality furniture. David found that salespeople either spoke English themselves or were eager to help customers find someone who did. He was impressed with the service, high-quality solid wood furnishings, and the fact that delivery was quick and free. David has one important tip, though: "Make sure that your credit card is approved for large overseas expenditures before leaving Canada!" Overall, David's experience investing with Fast Track Capital and Tropical Freedom Properties was positive. When asked if he would recommend buying property and building a home in Honduras, he has a quick answer. "I have done just that so the answer has to be yes!" If you do your due diligence and find an investment that's right for you, a foreign investment property is an excellent opportunity. Back to top

Mason was a new university graduate and his previous employment opportunity

involved delivering ice bags throughout the summer.

Seven Habits of Highly Effective People

Author Stephen Covey

"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit." Aristotle In The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, author Stephen R. Covey presents a holistic, integrated, principle-centered approach for solving personal and professional problems. With penetrating insights and pointed anecdotes, Covey reveals a step-by-step pathway for living with fairness, integrity, service, and human dignity - principles that give us the security to adapt to change and the wisdom and power to take advantage of the opportunities that change creates. Covey's Seven Habits are rules for life - rules that have the ability to change your life!

Emerson

Habit 6 - Synergize

Covey believes this is the habit of creative cooperation - the principle that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

Dress for Success

Seldom do people discern eloquence under a threadbare cloak Juvenal Does it really make a difference how you dress in business? YES!!! In today's business climate, appearances do matter. It is absolutely essential that you dress your best in business. According to statistics, 55% of another person's perception of you is based on your appearance. Think about the following - would you wear jeans to meet a prospective client? I will give you a hint... it starts with an 'n'... no, of course you wouldn't!

Top 10 Basics You don't have to have a shoe collection like Imelda Marcos to achieve a successful look - please note the following base wardrobe: Women 1. Basic Black Dress - Can be worn day or night and

dressed up or down 2. 10. Sweat-Suit Alternative - Something you would wear every day that doesn't scream housecoat!

Danielle Pearce

I originally entered the world of finance to try and help people set up a

retirement plan so they wouldn't have to worry about money when they retired. (Interesting to note - my mutual funds were below 0 yet my house had increased 300%) My wife picked up the book Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki and my life changed as a direct result of reading this book and taking action!

Sincerely, Rick Hoyt Fast Track Capital Investment Representative

This industry represents between 1.4% and 2.3% of GDP and between 3.5% and 5.8% of federal government revenues.2 This contribution to the economy is not the taxes you pay as a

citizen, rather it is the cost of compliance and administration to collect taxes! Total Compliance and Administrative Costs, 2005 (CDN$)3 Item

Estimate Personal Income Taxes (individual) $5,474,904,000 Business Taxes $19,300,000,000 Property Taxes $248,444,896

ADMINISTRATIVE COSTS

TOTAL COMPLIANCE AND ADMINISTRATIVE COSTS

Feature Investor: David Bailey

David Bailey has been coming to events offered through the Fast Track Group events for years and is a top client. Though Fast Track Capital, he recently invested in the Trujillo Oceanfront Center in Honduras and Fountains at Sun City opportunities. Through Tropical Freedom Properties, he purchased a residential property at Campa Vista. We asked David about his experiences investing in Honduras and what he liked about these opportunities. What next? David recommends first

David's Tips for Investing in Foreign Property      

Do your due diligence: check it out Visit the location Ask questions Talk to people who have invested in and visited the location Try to keep your emotional drives under control Make sure the investment is right for you

beginning your due diligence process by checking out the companies that are involved in the deal. "Fast Track Capital provided a 'hands off' opportunity to invest in real estate," he says, while "Tropical Freedom was offering an opportunity to invest in real estate with great potential for future growth." Once you've found companies like Fast Track Capital and Tropical Freedom Properties that you know you want to deal with, you'll want to learn more about the investment location. When David checked out Life Vision

Properties' investment in Trujillo, his first impression was positive. For example, where exactly do you find furnishings in Honduras? Back to top
