From the moment that man discovered fire, his progress has been closely linked to the consumption of energy. In the past, this energy was obtained from wood, felling forests or coal, digging in the earth, even, penetrating through tunnels under the sea. Later, he used water vapor and electricity as an energy source.

In modern life, the main source of energy comes from the consumption of oil. This name is given to a gaseous, liquid and solid mixture of hydrocarbons, which has been found in deposits of sedimentary rocks, in different proportions and in different places on Earth. In its crude state, oil is practically a substance without any utility; but subjected to a refining process, it provides fuels, lubricants, solvents, coating materials and an innumerable quantity of other products. Starting with petroleum-based fuels, these represent more than half of the energy consumed by the world.

The man uses it not only to move the engines of cars, trucks, tractors, boats, airplanes, but also uses it to heat buildings or operate air conditioning systems. In addition, with oil the machines are lubricated and the oil is obtained asphalt from roads or materials to cover floors or ceilings. Likewise, by direct or in-direct combustion, it is used in the generation of electricity; oil gives artificial light to millions of beings in the world. Nor should it be forgotten that petroleum products are those that are used to manufacture fibers for fabrics or synthetic rubber for tires.

In today's society, it is an important part of each and every aspect of life. When we lack electricity we realize how our life revolves around it. Since, without the energy, most of the technical advances that we enjoyed could not have been developed, and the kind of life we would lead would be completely different. Electric power both domestically and in industry, as well as ... electric light, and a large number of objects that work thanks to electricity and have caused electricity today is absolutely essential.
