Know About The Screen Printing Technique

Screen printing technique was traditionally called the silkscreen printing or serigraphy that was used most commonly to print on materials. In screen printing technique, a mesh is used so that ink can be transfer onto the substrate at the desired area by blocking stencil. A squeegee is used to move across the film to fill apertures with ink and cause the screen along the contact line to touch the substrate briefly. The screen is a piece of mesh made of synthetic polymer, smaller apertures, and nylons that gets stretched over the frame. They are used to design a substrate that requires more delicate work art and higher detailing. The screens are mounted on frames under tension to be more effective. The frames are made of diverse materials like aluminum, wood or a more sophisticated frame.

Stencils are formed by blocking off-screen parts in negative image design that needs to be printed, at the open spaces special inks are filled that gets to appear on the material.

Both screen and frame have to undergo a prepress process that involves an emulsion scooped across exposed mesh thus leaving behind cleared area on the mesh. The substrate that needs to be printed gets coated with pallet type. This serves the pallet from unwanted leaking ink through a screen from transferring.

On the top of the substrate, the screen is placed and the ink gets placed on screen’s top. Floodbars are used to push ink through the hold contained on the mesh. The screen gets protect with substrate contact by the operatory just by lifting and a desired amount of force is applied to pull the filling bar from the front of the screen. The operator squeegee by moving the mesh down to material and pushes squeegee on screen rear. The ink gets pumped using capillary action with a prescribed amount proportional to the mesh thickness. The ink gets left on the screen by pulling the mesh away from the material or substrate which is known as snap-off.

The textile industries make use of three common type of printing press that is as follows- rotary, cylinder, and flat-bed. The textile printed items use wet techniques for multicolored designing and the colors get dried just by press the screen. The graphics items get printed with different colors after re-alignment of the press.
