ArFB President | Rich Hillman of Carlisle was elected as Arkansas Farm Bureau’s new president on Friday morning during Farm Bureau’s 85th Annual Convention. Hillman served the past 11 years as Farm Bureau’s vice president. He succeeds Randy Veach.

CELEBRATING A LEGACY OF SERVICE: HONORING RANDY & THELMA VEACH As a way of celebrating his 11 years as president and 20 years as a member of the board of directors, Arkansas Farm Bureau hosted special event to honor Randy and Thelma Veach on Wednesday, Dec. 4, the first evening of convention.

The event, called “Celebrating a Legacy of Service,” brought together ArFB leaders and employees from both federation and insurance as well as county members and board leaders to honor the Veaches for

their commitment to Farm Bureau.

Proceeds from the event will be donated in the Veach’s name to the Arkansas Farm Bureau Foundation. The Foundation’s mission is to further understanding of agricultural and rural issues, and to support the agriculture and rural community through financial support for education, research, litigation and disaster relief.

ARKANSAS FARM BUREAU WOMEN’S LEADERSHIP LUNCHEON The Women’s Leadership Luncheon was held Dec. 5 during the annual ArFB Convention and featured Lorenda Overman as the keynote speaker.

Overman is the Southern Region Representative for the American Farm Bureau Federation Women’s Leadership Program. She offered great advice and some funny personal stories on telling your own story.

Awards were also presented to various Women’s Leadership Committees across the state.

Benton County was honored the Outstanding Women’s Leadership Committee award at the 2019 Women’s

Luncheon.

This year, Benton County presented multiple Ag in the Classroom programs, promoted Arkansas commodities, promoted rural health and safety in their county throughout the year.

Jana Carroll was named the 2019 ArFB Women’s Leadership Committee Diamond honoree.

Carroll does an outstanding job of sharing the value and importance of agriculture through school and community programs as well as social media.

ARKANSAS COUNTY’S TRENT DABBS EARNS FARM BUREAU LEADERSHIP AWARD Trent Dabbs is the 2019 recipient of the Stanley E. Reed Leadership Award. Dabbs accepted the award Dec. 4, during the organization’s 85th annual conference at the Statehouse Convention Center in Little Rock. Arkansas Farm Bureau President Randy Veach and Charlene Reed, widow of ArFB’s late president presented the award.

Dabbs has served on Arkansas County’s board of directors and is presently its county president. He is also a graduate of Farm Bureau’s President’s Leadership Council and was the former chair of the Young Farmers & Ranchers state committee.

Dabbs is a fourth-generation rowcrop farmer south of Stuttgart. He grows corn, rice and soybeans on 3,000 acres with his father, Terry, a Farm Bureau state board member.

The Stanley E. Reed Leadership Award was established to honor the memory of the late Arkansas Farm Bureau president and is awarded to an active member, 36 to 45 years of age, for outstanding leadership within their county Farm Bureau and community. It is intended to honor a county leader who has demonstrated the leadership qualities that were evident in Stanley Reed’s life and will help lead Farm Bureau into the future.
