The Riches of Divine Wisdom David Gooding

£16.73

£13.99

The wisdom of God is revealed in both Old and New Testaments, but it is impossible to appreciate that wisdom fully if the two are read in isolation. Drawing upon many years of biblical research and teaching, Professor Gooding expounds key New Testament passages that use the Old Testament. First he examines the importance of the general relationship of the two testaments. He then considers five major thought categories of the New Testament’s interpretation. Finally he formulates guidelines for interpreting Old Testament narrative and illustrates them from three familiar passages. Taken together these insights provide invaluable help for appreciating the richness of God’s multifaceted wisdom. £16.73 £13.99

Dear Friends, Welcome to our Spring Catalogue 2013. God has said, “While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.” Gen 8:22. We plan our calendars and schedules but God controls the seasons and we can learn a lot from them. Spring reminds us that in Christ we can have new life, in summer we can have light, in autumn be prepared and in winter be sheltered. For those sheltered under the precious blood of Christ we have everlasting life, to be enjoyed now and for all eternity. For each season, we can apply the lesson to ourselves. Are you prepared for eternity? Are you depending on the person of Christ and His work on the cross? Are you living in the full enjoyment of new life in Christ? As I write this, the snow is melting. There is the potential of new life everywhere. None of us can estimate the potential of a life lived for God. We hope that the resources we offer can help you as you live for Him.

With every blessing. On behalf of the AEB team, Ricky McCoubrey.

A Biography on Thomas Bentley by Grace Bentley

Thomas Bentley was born in Belfast in 1924. At eleven years of age he was saved through the words of Rev. 3:20. At fourteen years of age he was received into the fellowship of the assembly that met in Ebenezer Gospel Hall, Oldpark Road, Belfast. He began his platform ministry on the day he joined the assembly by giving his testimony that night. In 1945 he responded to the call of God and in February 1956, he was commended by the assembly at Ebenezer Gospel Hall, Belfast, to serve the Lord in full time capacity. Thomas, his late wife Josephine and two young children, left these shores in November 1956 for Malaya/Malaysia. Josephine predeceased him in 1970 and he subsequently married Grace in 1973. Together they devotedly continued to serve the Lord until his homecall on 9th June 2011. A Biography of Thomas Bentley from the pen of his wife Grace provides a carefullydocumented account of a life lived to please the Lord in a very demanding pathway of obedience that took him to various countries and through triumphs and difficulties that few have encountered. His determination to know, and be subject to, the will of God in every circumstance will test the convictions of every reader. Evident too in this biography is his love for the Lord and His people, and for the Word of God. Younger readers will find much help in the guidance he provided to all who study the Scriptures. Aspiring preachers will gain greatly from the portrait of an earnest, able seeker of souls. Thomas Bentley contributed extensively in writing to various assembly magazines and authored the commentary on the epsitle to the Colossians in What the Bible Teaches published by John Ritchie Ltd. In December 2011, his Exposition of 1 and 2 Thessalonians, sub-titled Pattern for Christian Living, was published posthumously. Includes: • Comprehensive biography • Tributes and memories • Selected ministry outlines • Excerpts from his notebook • A transcription of the funeral message by David Gilliland.

Little Pilgrim’s Progress

Fifty-five years ago, Helen L. Taylor took Bunyan’s Pilgrim’s Progress and simplified the vocabulary and concepts for young readers, while keeping the storyline intact. The result was a classic in itself, which has now sold over 600,000 copies. It’s both a simple adventure story and a profound allegory of the Christian journey through life, a delightful read with a message kids ages 6 to 12 can understand and remember. A new look and fresh illustrations for today’s children enlivens the journey to the Celestial City. £6.99 £5.99 Also available: Little Pilgrim’s Progress Adventure Guide £5.99

Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures ... He was buried, and ... He rose again

the third day according to the scriptures. 1 CORINTHIANS 15:3-4

A HOMICIDE DETECTIVE INVESTIGATES THE CLAIMS OF THE GOSPELS Written by an L. A. County homicide detective and former atheist, Cold Case Christianity examines the claims of the New Testament using the skills and strategies of a hard-to-convince criminal investigator. Christianity could be defined as a “cold case”: it makes a claim about an event from the distant past for which there is little forensic evidence. In Cold Case Christianity, J. Warner Wallace uses his nationally recognized skills as a homicide detective to look at the evidence and eyewitnesses behind Christian beliefs. Including gripping stories from his career and the visual techniques he developed in the courtroom, Wallace uses illustration to examine the powerful evidence that validates the claims of Christianity. With a forward by Lee Strobel.

A unique apologetic that speaks to readers’ intense interest in detective stories, Cold Case Christianity inspires readers to have confidence in Christ as it prepares them to articulate the case for Christianity.

Manager’s Comment: “I began reading this book wondering if it was another ‘gimmick.’ I found it thoroughly engaging and an excellent book to pass on to some who might not otherwise give these issues any thought. He presents an excellent defence for the historical accuracy of the four gospels and, in turn, a presentation of the claims of the gospel of Jesus Christ.” - Ricky McCoubrey
