WORKSHOP INSTRUCTORS MICHAEL ONDRUS

ARCHITECTURAL MARKET MANAGER EASTMAN Ondrus works with architects, specifiers, engineers, consultants, and designers, as well as laminating customers, providing advanced yet practical interlayer solutions for laminated glass that meet project-specific performance and aesthetic needs for exterior and interior applications. He has over 25 years’ glass industry marketing and technical experience at the float glass, interlayer, specialty fabricator, and processing levels.

MAIC PANNWITZ

SENIOR EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT SEDAK Pannwitz has over 30 years’ experience in facade design and engineering. Previously, he worked for Seele, the German facade contractor. He is a consultant to architects, selling specialty glass products serving North America. His extensive experience supports facade contractors on each phase of projects requiring oversized, complicated glass solutions. He holds a Dipl. Ing./Master in Mechanical Engineering from Technical University “Otto Von Guericke” in Magdeburg, Germany.

BLAIR PAYSON ARCHITECT OLSON KUNDIG

Payson has worked on projects including: the Century Project for the Space Needle, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Visitor Center, [storefront], OK, and many others across North America. From large cultural projects to temporary design interventions, Payson distills large, complex projects into distinct culminating moments. He credits this appreciation of key design details to his formative years working under Renzo Piano in Paris.

BRAD PRESTBO SENIOR ASSOCIATE SASAKI ASSOCIATES

Prestbo has over 19 years’ experience working on some of the nation’s most prestigious campuses. A problem-solver with great technical skill, he has been part of several award-winning project teams. As chair of Sasaki’s Technical Resource Group, he shares his knowledge of design and detailing with the rest of the firm to promote better practices in architecture.

STEVEN RAINVILLE PRINCIPAL OLSON KUNDIG

As director of the firm’s R&D initiatives, Rainville helps implement progressive research ideas, focusing on building energy use and the possibilities of technology and craft. Current explorations include: a massive, ultra-high efficiency window system; continued research on kinetic design elements; and a “drawing-less” model-based delivery process for a remote cabin. A common thread across this diverse body of work is his drive to achieve high building performance alongside high aesthetics. Often, he finds this balance using advanced digital technologies to execute efficient material effects with the signature of craft.

DANIEL RAMIREZ DIRECTOR OF INNOVATION SKANSKA

Ramirez leads the development and implementation of disruptive and sustaining innovation programs. From building a better fish tank for the Miami Science Museum to the use of lasers for construction wayfinding, he has successfully deployed disruptive construction solutions for several organizations, including CW Keller and Katerra.

BRAD ROGERS

PLANNING & STRATEGIES CONSULTANT PERKINS+WILL Rogers has a diverse range of experience in strategic facilities planning, portfolio analysis, move coordination, and construction phasing. Using a unique data-driven approach, he works with corporate, civic, higher education, and healthcare clients to solve complex problems on projects ranging in scale from interior space planning to campus master planning.

VIKRAM SAMI

DIRECTOR OF BUILDIG PERFORMANCE OLSON KUNDIG

Sami has worked on high-performance design for over 18 years, combining technical expertise with a love of design. Current areas of research include: thermal comfort, natural ventilation, building simulation techniques, global carbon reduction techniques, and post-occupancy evaluations. Sami leads the firm’s participation on the AIA 2030 Commitment and helps designers understand sustainability ratings systems such as LEED®, WELL Building, and Passivhaus.

STEPHEN SICILIANO

NORTHEASTERN DISTRICT SALES MANAGER 3A COMPOSITES USA Siciliano has over 30 years’ experience in the exterior cladding arena and currently manages the NY/NJ/PA market for 3A Composites USA. An integral part of the architectural community, he continually strives to educate, enhance, and further develop specifications for ALUCOBOND Plus by partnering with architects and fabricators.

JAMIE SLAGEL PRINCIPAL OLSON KUNDIG

Slagel brings a keen sensitivity to the landscape to her work across a broad range of project types, from private residences to cultural projects, product design, art installations, mixed-use, commercial projects, and competitions. She has collaborated on projects receiving both national and regional awards, and appeared in publications including: The Wall Street Journal, Architectural Digest, and The New York Times Style Magazine. She also has served as Adjunct Professor at Montana State University School of Architecture and the University of Washington College of Built Environment.
