The main strategies in the field of sustainability were researched and applied in a theorical design project located in Brazil. The integration of the three pillars of sustainability - social, economical and environmental - was the goal at every scale of design. The design starts at the scale of the human being - the housing unit - then it expands to the scale of combinbed housing units as a floor, as a building and as a complex within a city.

SOCIAL PILLAR: UNIVERSAL DESIGN A design that considers diverse needs since the start reduces the need for costly future adaptations and promotes inclusion. ECONOMICAL PILLAR: VIABILITY Balance between quality and low cost is proposed by compact design and reducing the need of interior partitions and framings. ENVIRONMENTAL PILLAR: LOW IMPACT Strategies consist of low environmental impact construction techniques, efficient systems and passive environmental comfort.

SUSTAINABLE GUIDELINES IN HOUSING |DIFFERENT HOUSING UNITS - 2 AND 3 BEDROOMS The compact and accessible organization used in the studio unit was applied to shape larger units with the same logic.

Bedrooms and living rooms face north and east - the ideal for the southern hemisphere.

The placement of the units seek to maximize openings for ventilation.

The shared access area at the back of the units creates a neighborhood-like ambience, promoting social bonding.

University Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Brazil Course Interior Architecture / Group Project with Gladys Taparello instructor Marta Dischinger Softwares AutoCAD, SketchUp, VRay, Lumion and Illustrator

As a renovation proposal for the existing space at university, the new layout aims to maximize the use of space and to accomodate a variety of activities desired by the students and faculty. The colors and materials chosen seek a balance between estimulating and calming tones. Shelves, desks, tables and seating areas were designed from scratch and combined with the classic Eames chairs, seeking an environment with visual unity, functionality and personality.

LIBRARY AND STUDY ROOM | DIVISION OF USES As different activities cause different levels of noise and require different levels of concentration, the layout seeks to minimize their interpherence on each other. The inside lounge, group study and collection areas are located near the entrance while the individual study is towards the end. An outside lounge also works as a transition from corridor.

LIBRARY AND STUDY ROOM |LIGHTNING DESIGN Lightning was detailed as an essential tool to qualify different areas of use in the library, through various lamp designs, LED stripes, plaster and perfurated steel boards at different heights.

LIBRARY AND STUDY ROOM | FURNITURE DETAIL - SHELVES AS VISUAL INDENTITY The main shelves are a composition of colour and sizes. At the same time they store part of the collection and provide seating spaces, they become the visual identity of the library - and they are seen not only from the inside but also from the corridor, through a glass facade.

Originally designed with AutoCAD and SketchUp, this project was re-designed solely with Revit for the purpose of exercising Building Integration Modeling (BIM). The design guidelines were the integration of the built environment with the steep slope of the exisating site while the the remainning area becomes an urban park connecting with the streets at the top and the bottom of the slope. For the interior, the goals were to maximize natural light, provide views of the park and create different atmospheres which allow different styles of exhibitions.

University City College of the City University of New York Program Master of Architecture II Course Digital Techniques / Individual Instructor Andrew McGee Softwares Rhinoceros; V-Ray; Illustrator ; 3D printing With the aim of exercising digital design and representation techniques, iconic buildings with complex geometries were drawn and 3D modeled. The task was also to identify and communicate the main feature of the building - in the case of the Hearst Tower, the diagrid that structures the facades was chosen.

37 By choosing a site in a polluted area in South Bronx and building a green landmark in the form of a makerspace, the design seeks to create a positive impact on the community - by providing a place for social bonding and work opportunities.

Retrofitting an existing warehouse aims to showcase the potential of outdated buildings to be transformed into energy efficient facilities by rethinking the envelope.
