The new collaborations containing saunathemed products from different Finnish companies and targeting various customer groups will help the companies to enhance their visibility and to enter international markets.

AUSTRALIAN POOL BARRIER STANDARD TO BE REWRITTEN An initiative to amend Australian Standard AS1926.1 – Swimming pool safety – Safety barriers for swimming pools, has been scrapped in favour of a complete rewrite. An amendment review began in 2017 and changes proposed in an initial draft included a number of new requirements that had the potential to impact the pool and spa industry. However concerns were raised that the new draft may be more complex than necessary, may not achieve the initial proposed objective to reduce the need for interpretation and the potential for ambiguity, and may not provide the clarification that was required. In view of the comments received, plus new data that has emerged since 2017, Standards Australia has made the decision to cancel the revision project and a new programme and proposals will follow.

Fluidra Earns Seventh FINA Certificate In Indonesia Fluidra has bolstered its leading position in the competition pool segment after the International Swimming Federation (FINA) certified that the Arena Aquatic PON XX Papua in Jayapura, the capital of the Indonesian province of Papua, can host international championships. The debut top-tier event is set to be the Indonesian National Sports Week, ‘Pekan Olah Raga Nasional (PON) 2021’, an event held every four years with athletes from all the country’s provinces. The group, which has been designing and equipping both competition and training pools for over 45 years, has participated in the design, planning, and execution of multiple facilities for FINAorganised International Swimming Championships. The project, valued at over €4m, and the subsequent FINA certification once again solidifies Fluidra’s reputation as the partner of choice for sports competitions around the world. “We started working in Papua in April 2019 as part of the support team for the PT Waskita

Karya construction company and the Indonesian Swimming Federation. Despite the restrictions imposed by COVID19, we are proud that our team was able to complete the project successfully and on time,” explained Xavier Pavon, Fluidra’s Managing Director in Asia. With this new certification, Fluidra’s subsidiary in Indonesia now has seven FINA-certified swimming pools, together with Aquatic GBK and Aquatic PPOP Ragunan. The pool designed and built for the 19th Sukma Games

in Malaysia also features FINA certification, further enhancing Fluidra’s leadership in the competition pool segment in Asia. The Arena Aquatic PON XX Papua comprises three pools: an Olympic competition pool measuring 50x25x3m with a movable bulkhead that adapts to all swimming events; a 25x20x5m diving pool (both made with SKYPOOL technology); and a concrete, 50x21m warm-up pool with a variable depth of 1 to 2m.
