Golden Coast Highlight Advantages Of Custom-fit Control Panels While many things that are bespoke or custom may be viewed as a luxury, when it comes to pool and spa control panels, it makes good economic and practical sense. Golden Coast’s resident technical guru Andy James explains: “With an off-the-shelf product you could be paying for a lot of functions that you will never use, while other features that you would value are missing. However, when you opt for custom-made panels you get exactly what’s needed.” He adds: “Every project is different, so we start every project from scratch to ensure we meet its precise needs. For example, a customer may have existing parts or equipment that we can incorporate into the control panel. “The real beauty of our customised panels is that they can be easily adapted at any time. So if you needed to upgrade your facilities,

there would be no need to start again.” Golden Coast’s bespoke control panel service benefits from an efficient specification process which has been developed to save time and money. This quickly establishes what equipment needs to be controlled, so that a custom-fit solution can be created each and every time. The quality and versatility of the custom panels was best illustrated at SPATEX 2016 where visitors were able to discover how much could be achieved. Golden Coast’s bespoke display featured a two-door, high quality control panel, with connected load, monitoring and display. Fitted with a seven-inch HD touch screen, it offered full function PLC, with a remote IO governing digital, analogue and temperature. With a variable speed drive (VSD) controlled and monitored via the PLC, the system also

included sump pump monitoring, a heat pump start unit and a remote controlled, water feature. Its DMX storage and control featured a full-function, internet-connected DMX glass plate controller. Golden Coast 01271 378100 www.gctrade.co.uk

New Filtration System Makes Its Mark We may only be weeks in to 2016 but a revolutionary new filtration system has already made its mark on the UK’s swimming pool industry. Total Pool Filtration teamed up with the Danish company Provital to market their Ceramic Microfiltration (CMF) system in the UK and the pool market was able to get its first glimpse of this pioneering technology at SPATEX in Coventry earlier this year. The successful application of membrane technology to swimming pool water has allowed this exciting new system to gain an advantage over more traditional filtration methods. Sand and glass can typically filter out 5 to 7 micron particles when a flocculant is used. When a flocculant isn’t used, particles as large as 10 microns will pass through. The CMF system can filter down to 3 microns, which is sufficient to remove up to 100% of Cryptosporidium oocysts from the pool water, hence providing exceptional water quality. As well as improved water quality this new system offers many cost savings for potential new pools and existing pools. For potential new builds, installing a CMF system will help save on construction costs as it requires a much smaller plant room. This is a direct result of it

taking up just 30% of the footprint of sand filters and also its need for less headroom, a smaller balance tank and no backwash holding tank. In addition to this, significant savings can also be made on water and energy bills as just 75 litres of water is needed per membrane per backwash. For existing pools the CMF system is an ideal solution for plant rooms that are tight for space and where balance tanks are undersized. It is also straightforward and hassle-free to install and will create minimum disruption to the day-to-day management of the pool. Finally the CMF system is very user friendly. All backwashing is fully automatic and every component of the filtration system can be controlled at the touch of a button on a computer or tablet device. In the unlikely event that any problems occur, engineers can log in remotely to investigate, and in most cases fix the problem, without the need for a call-out.
