WORLD NEWS

IN BRIEF YAS WATERWORLD EXPANDS At the start of April, developer and asset manager Miral has unveiled its latest expansion at Yas Waterworld Yas Island, Abu Dhabi. The expansion marks the next stage of the waterpark’s Lost City theming expansion, building on Yas Waterworld’s story of The Legend of The Lost Pearl. The development introduced eight new slides, two jumping platforms and a lounging pool. These standout additions significantly enhance the waterpark’s portfolio, and will bring the total number of in-park experiences to more than 70.

BEHQ STRENGTHENS EXPANSION PLANS Spanish group BEHQ, a specialist in chemical solutions for water treatment, is accelerating its international development and strengthening its presence in Morocco following the acquisition of Chemartis, its exclusive distributor in Italy. This operation, carried out through the parent company Bonet Especialidades Hidroquímicas and Sebic group based near Barcelona, marks a significant restructuring of BEHQ’s commercial network across Europe and the Mediterranean. The integration of Chemartis, a key player in pool water treatment in Italy, allows the Spanish group to transition from a long-standing commercial cooperation to a direct presence in this strategic market. Following the reorganisation, Morocco is now one of the priority markets for the group’s development, alongside Tunisia, several Eastern European countries and the Gulf region. Currently, exports represent nearly 50% of BEHQ’s activities. The group achieved a revenue of €20m in 2025 and anticipates €30m in 2026, with approximately €6m coming from the newly integrated Italian operations.

Ezarri Gold Pool Tiles Create Australian Residential Project Elegance

Australia is home to some of the most demanding pool design standards globally, where quality and technical innovation are essential. A recent private residential project in the country chose Ezarri’s glass pool tile to create an exclusive aquatic space, featuring the Sponge Gold reference from the Gold Collection. The visual heart of this project lies in the selection of the Sponge Gold reference from the Gold collection launched in 2023, which takes the concept of pool mosaic tile to a new artistic level. This mosaic integrates glass tiles with 24-carat gold inlays, which, combined with a matte finish and a watercolour-effect texture, creates an unprecedented visual impact. Under the intense Australian natural light, the tiling interacts with the environment to transform the water into a clear skyblue tone, providing exceptional brightness and a

sense of spaciousness to the entire area. From a technical perspective, the project successfully addressed complex curved surfaces and spa areas using JointPoint® technology. This system leaves 92% of the back of the tile free for the adhesive, ensuring superior bonding and a 25% reduction in installation time. Safety is also a key component; the project includes the Safe anti-slip finish, which provides a secure surface that remains remarkably smooth to the touch. Finally, this luxury installation remains environmentally responsible, as the tiles are made from 100% recycled glass. Ezarri Mosaico +34 943 164 140 www.ezarri.com

Fluidra Acquires Ecotropy’s Datapool To Lead Digitalisation And Efficiency In The Pool Sector Fluidra has announced the acquisition of Datapool, the digital twin platform developed by Ecotropy. With this transaction, the company reinforces its strategic commitment to sustainability, operational efficiency and the digitalisation of the sector. The transaction represents the evolution of a collaboration that began in 2024, when Fluidra invested in Ecotropy through Fluidra Ventures, its Corporate Venture Capital fund focused on startups with the potential to transform the pool and wellness sector through technological innovation. With this acquisition, Datapool becomes fully integrated into Fluidra’s digital ecosystem for commercial pools, consolidating its role as a key part of the company’s value proposition. The platform incorporates advanced analytics

capabilities, IoT solutions and real-time data within an open and scalable architecture, in line with the company’s strategy to offer connected and sustainable solutions that maximise the efficiency of aquatic facilities and accelerate the transition towards smarter management models. Datapool outfits aquatic facilities with digital twins, enabling pools to be managed using reliable, real-time data and replacing management models based on estimates or manual supervision. In this way, the platform simulates the optimal operation of each facility and continuously compares it with variables such as energy consumption, occupancy, weather conditions and

water quality, providing a comprehensive view that helps anticipate incidents, optimise resources and improve operational performance. Thanks to this technology, operators can reduce operating costs by 10% to 25% by optimising water and energy consumption without the need for construction works or invasive interventions; monitor and adjust key parameters such as temperature, water quality and occupancy in real time; automate management through predictive models that adapt climate control and operations to real demand; generate automatic reports with traceable data for audits, tenders or grant applications; and plan investments and improvements based on objective data.
