Why a hotel compendium should not require additional infrastructure or resources

Most Hotels The majority of hotels, motels, serviced apartments and resorts are currently using a paper- or TV-based solution to inform guests with details for their property and the local area. However, these solutions do have their limitations.

Paper Most commonly used as the cheapest tangible solution. Its limitations include but not limited to: • Difficult and high cost to update information in each, and • Keeping them damage free. Did You Know • One sheet of A4 paper requires around 10 litres of water to produce. (1) • A single human breathes the equivalent of oxygen provide by 78 trees per year. (2) 2

Television Some properties use TV’s to display guest directory information. It’s limitations include but not limited to: • Being restricted to the communal area in each of the guests rooms, and • No one being able to watch free to air or pay TV etc., while any guest in each room/apartment is looking at the compendium information.

The World Today In the 21st century, the overwhelming majority of people are carrying a smartphone and/or tablet, such as an iPhone, iPad or an Android smartphone/tablet.

In 2017, there was estimated to be around 16.69 million smartphone users in Australia. (3)

The Best 21st Century Solution

Here at App IT Byte, we strongly believe that the best delivery vehicle for guest directory information at your property, is to use your guests own smartphones and/or tablets. By allowing guests to use their own smartphones and tablets, they: • Can take the compendium information anywhere they go with their smartphone and tablet, beyond your guest rooms/apartments. • Will be very familiar with how to use apps on their smartphone or tablet of choice. 5

Your property’s management would also benefit from: • Reducing your costs for acquiring a new technology solution. • Little to no maintenance labour and costs, when it comes to the condition of your compendiums. • Update information digitally, which then applies to all rooms/apartments. • Update information for all rooms/apartments within hours, not weeks.
