e’ve all seen that romantic comedy where cute boy takes cute girl home to his parents for the first time and there it is … his room preserved in time, complete with cowboy sheets and sports trophies. In this age of relocation, that is mostly a Rom Com fantasy, but what about when Junior or Princess leaves for college, the Peace Corps or the Big World? Do we leave their lair intact for their return? Their biannual visits? I say, “No way!” Rise up and claim your Mom Cave! How many years have we crammed our calendars, coupons, mail, Post-It notes or general stuff on that tiny
kitchen desk as we walk in the door? Think of that empty bedroom as new space for not only your stuff, but your soul. Maybe a cozy chaise lounge where you can read or watch Lifetime movies without judgment or interruption? Maybe a wine bar complete with yummy snacks? Consider the possibilities. You will be the envy of your friends and neighbors! When Junior and Princess return with bags and bags of laundry, they’ll be perfectly happy with a futon in the corner made up with clean sheets … we actually have to carve out a little space for them, after all! Another great bedding choice for a Mom Cave is a daybed with a pop up trundle that becomes a king size bed, creating a spare guest room. There’s a wealth of possibilities in convertible beds.
