REVOLUTION Is usually a result of solving a problem or meeting a need. In 1997 Hayes Disc Brakes revolutionized mountain biking with the introduction of the MAG Disc Brake. Since that time a number of different brands have entered the market, all with very slight competitive differences. While disc brakes provide riders everywhere with many advantages in terms of stopping power, speed and modulation, they also have some challenges. One inherent problem with ALL disc brakes from ANY manufacturer is ease of calliper set up. • Constant trial and error • Frustration with alignment • Time consuming • Dangerous Just as we did back in 1997, Hayes recognised that a solution could once again revolutionise.

This revolutionary new calliper alignment adjustment technology: • A  llows mechanics and users to quickly and accurately set brake callipers with no drag. • Eliminates guess work and trial and error. • Makes set up process quick and easy for “out of the box” builds. • Improves efficiency for factory and dealer bicycle assembly. • Improves safety. • Adds value on the shop floor. In order for world class components to work, tight tolerances have to be met. Most often they con only be seen through a microscope.

Turn each adjuster screw 1/4 turn then rotate the wheel and listen for pad rubbing, repeat until the pads clear the disc.

Torque the lower mount bolt (A) to 9N·m (80in·lb) (the upper adjuster screw keeps the caliper from rotating out of alignment). Torque the upper mount bolt (B) to 9N·m (80in·lb).

Snug the mount bolts using the 5mm hex tool while keeping the outer pad against the disc.

Place the caliper feet onto the mounting surface and thread the mount bolts (with washers) into the mount leaving the caliper loose.

WHAT YOU MAY NOT KNOW ABOUT GETTING THE BEST BRAKE PERFORMANCE At Hayes we have spent years developing brakes that deliver the best performance in terms of both power and modulation. It’s because of this obsessive testing that we’re confident that we deliver performing materials on the market today. However, regardless of material, riders need to understand that they are using a highperformance product that require a proper break in. When complete, we’re confident that riders will experience unparalleled performance. Hayes high-performance, sintered metallic, brake pads require a proper burnish, or break in, process of 50+ stops from speeds under 15 mph or 24 Km/h in order to reach full power. Performing the proper burnish process is essential to ensure your new pads have consistent, high power braking in all riding conditions. Hard braking before proper burnish can result in a reduction in brake performance.
