The first GBM of the year on August 19th was a success! Members had the opportunity to learn about the various committees and their unique roles within the organization. Members were introduced to the ways they can get involved and make a meaningful impact, and they had the chance to explore which committees align with their interests and skills.

We kicked off the school year with our back to school social at OAK! Both new and returning members were able to connect with one another. It was also a great opportunity for everyone to meet our committee and E-board members, share experiences, and discuss plans for the upcoming year!

Our September GBM took place on September 3rd and featured a Leadership Speed Dating event, where Executive Board members and Chairs shared insights about their roles. This event kicked off our Leadership Shadowing Program, which pairs members with current E-Board and Chair positions throughout the year to gain hands-on experience and collaborate on projects. Here are some of our operational chairs who have already hosted events this month!

On September 3rd, APhA-ASP Operation Heart and Diabetes collaborated with NCPA to host a comprehensive POCT training session. Students received hands-on experience in manual and automatic blood pressure measurement, proper cuff selection and fitting, blood glucose testing, safe lancet use and disposal, and interpretation of both blood pressure and glucose results. The training emphasized proper technique, from donning gloves to collecting blood samples for glucometer testing.

On Saturday, September 27th, APhA-ASP Operation Heart collaborated with SSHP to participate in the American Heart Association 3 mile Heart Walk at Celebration Pointe. This was an event to support people who have experienced or have family members who have had a cardiovascular event. The heart walk was an opportunity to show support to those in attendance. The event was composed of numerous booths representing different health care facilities in the Gainesville community.
