Sermon Notes Sermon Series

Working and Serving God

(Proverbs 14) “All work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.” Proverbs 14:23 “Lazy hands make for poverty, but diligent hands bring wealth.” Proverbs 10:4

to make our ministry count?

Carefully build on the foundation laid, because the footings are deep and are meant to last. “By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as an expert builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should be careful how he builds.” 1 Cor 3:10 • You can’t be people efficient; you can only be people effective. “I will not presume to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me.” Romans 15:18

Don’t reinvent the wheel, ministry starts and ends with Jesus. “For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.” 1 Cor 3:11 “‘See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame.’ 7 Now to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who

Sermon Notes (cont.) do not believe, ‘The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone,’ 8 and, ‘A stone that causes men to stumble and a rock that makes them fall.’ They stumble because they disobey the message—which is also what they were destined for. 1 Peter 2:6-8

Use the right materials, the right way, for the right result. “If any man builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw,” 1 Cor 3: 12 • We build for the lord… By our motives. By our conduct. By our service.

Ensure fire codes are in place, God uses strict standards. “His work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each man's work.” 1 Cor 3:1 “But he knows the way that I take: when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold.” Job 23:10

Whatever our service is, it is to God’s glory and He will reward generously. • • • • •

Our crowning rewards… Crown of Righteousness. 2 Tim 4:7 Crown of Exaltation. 1 Thes 2:19 Crown of Life. James 1:12 Crown of Glory. 1 Peter 5:4

"Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done.” Rev 22:12
