Architectural contest for the Athens 2004 (Olympic games) organization. 3 architecture firms were selected to participate. The project included a number of horse arenas, dressage jumping, hostel, restaurant, vet’s installations and horses installations. Working with “Theros” architecture we did an effort for a quality result in the cost limits defined by the Athens 2004 organisation. The master plan was pre-decided by the 2004 organization also. Time limits were quite short and we concentrated our efforts on the most public and important buildings.

The buildings of the complex varied in size and complexity. Our efforts were channeled at maintaining the picture of a whole while complying with completely different needs and demands. I personally leaded in the designing and plan solving of a big part of the complex and participated in the design of most. ATHENS EQUESTRIAN CENTER “CLOSED ARCHITECTURAL CONTEST 2001

At “Lefkada island there is a great tradition of wood crafting and a traditional construction system that can withstand the strong earthquakes that take place at the area. It was the one part of a double final project that we worked with 2 classmates. We explored the possibilities of development of this island beyond tourism. We took urban design decisions, choosing location, routes and arranging the limits and restrictions of the site which is of public interest. We had to make our own scenario on how such a school works since we were unable to retrieve any info on similar schools.

FINAL PROJECT SCHOOL OF WOOD STRUCTURES 2002

The other part of the final project is a housing project for students that will inhabit the island and it uses a ‘modernized version of the traditional wood-stone system that we invented. A double supporting construction system was traditionally used to face the severe earthquakes that frequent the island. We re-invent it with modern means, replacing the stone base floor with concrete and designing with a more contemporary aspect the upper floors.

v I had the Throughout my career opportunity and enjoyed designing interiors for various of the projects I have worked on. Always in direct communication with the “user of the space I designed original ideas complying with their needs and taste. Using sketches and fast 3D drawings in cobination with craftsmanship knowledge made this easy and fun.

24

Working on interior spaces v is the completion of the architectural process and is the final step towards providing customers the quality and asethetic feeling they dreamed and sometimes help them go even beyond their expectations.
