I was born in 1986 in Lanciano, a small town of Abruzzo, a region of central Italy, but since 2005 I moved to attend the Politecnico di Milano. In 2008 I got my Bachelor degree in Architecture then decided to continue and in 2011 I achieved the ultimate goal of master graduating in Architecture Buildings. During the years of university, I had the pleasure of having several experiences abroad, first in the USA in San Diego CA., Then at Oxford Brookes University and finally to Valencia at ETSA where I attended the Erasmus program. in 2012 I decided to follow the passion for boating and I attended the post graduate master course in Architecture of the Ship and Yacht at IUAV of Venice developing my project of thesis during the period of internship at Fincantieri Yach Muggiano (SP).

Ocean Blaze was born to reinterpret the concept of Explorer mega yacht that here is no conceived as strictly “work boat�, but otherwise the stern area creates a workspace dedicated to the owner . The aft volume hosts a private study and conference room where you can directly access from the heli deck, which can also accommodate tilt-rotor planes, by sea through the pool access situated in the beachlounge aft or by land when you are in port through the double staircase. Everything has been designed specifically for the owner who prefers to work and entertain clients on board, thus optimizing his free time and using the yacht as best representative office to finalize his business. But Ocean Blaze still want to be an explorer, so contrary to contemporary trends here we find an introverted lower deck that doesn’t create large outdoor beach club, but there are only few doors that open on the water in the spa area, in the master suite on the beach and in the full beam lounge. In fact, the aft area is characterized by a closed beach club dominated by a large window that can be opened for the tender access. There are two main lounge areas: a pool on the lower deck for use during navigation in temperate climates and the other on the main deck oper air. The latter not being located at the extreme of the boat to ensures greater privacy for the owner and his guests. Particular attention has been paid to the design of the terraces stern of the decks through an interplay of water and the breakdown of bulwark draw that characterize the line of mega yachts. Particular attention was paid to the owner apt. and his area for SPA and gym. Finally, the top-deck hosts a glass tropical-greenhouse that form the backdrop to the tropical-sky lounge, a cool area where receive guests for exclusive parties.


ELECTRIC SYSTEM The electrical equipment, wiring, fixtures shall be in accordance with the Classification Society rules. As far as possible, all electric equipment is to be designed and located so as to be readily accessible for repair and maintenance. The ship electric Generating Plant shall consist of: •8 diesel driven main generators; •1 diesel driven emergency generator. The power will be distributed through two 5.2 kV main switchboards, Medium Voltage distribution transformers, 400 V and 230 V switchboards. The distribution system will be 3-phase, 5,2 kV , 60Hz.

Emergency generator The emergency generator size will be agreed after the builder has completed an electric load analysis. The emergency plant will consist of: One (1) generating set 440V, 3phase, 60Hz. The generator panel will be fitted with an automatic diesel start system for automatic starting after a blackout and the generator circuit breaker will be switched automatically to the bus bar of the emergency switchboard.

“H” as Hybrid and “EEL” an homage to a species that moves fast and sinuous in fresh water producing electricity. From here H-eel is born, an idea that wants to underline the desire to think about an innovative object created for the opportunity that want to creep into the nautical tradition of Lake Como area incorporating the features of elegance and quality characterize it and which at the same time wants to innovate showing always attentive to the environment and sustainability.

Reinterpreting the nautical tradition of Como Lake; this was the starting point of the research conducted to arrive at the realization of H-eel. Boats characterized by elements of creativity and strong recognition that make them unique. From these elements, and by planning purposes, we have taken the first steps to thinking about the design of this modern taxi boat that wants to combine a line apparently classical, but with determined cuts. The line incorporates the classic style of Como boats: the three arches characteristic of “lucia” now draw the deck, and low racy defining the spaces for passengers and those service. Deep v planing hull material composite, shoes support, vertical sides and stern tapered make give this boat one slightly retro style, deliberately sought to better amalgamate with the unique setting in which it will take Service. From the beginning it was thought the sustainability of this project, the use of materials which, for the hull the use of resins of vegetable origin (Biresin CR 83) combined with cork panels and fiber flax (CORECORK, FACE-FIBRE), and uses a hybrid respectful environment. The side access on both sides was thought for easier ascent / descent of the passengers as well as for a more rapid side mooring. TECHNICAL H-eel is proposed with a classical axis propulsion combined with a hybrid innovative engine consisting of two units of Steyr Hybrid Motors SE306J38. It is a hybrid solution that integrates a diesel engine for high performance speed and a unit of electrical support. It ‘Steyer diesel engine combined with a six-cylinder line with a power of 292 Hp. The control of the hybrid system is also provided by a color LCD display, backlit touch-screen, based on the CANbus communication protocol, which integrates the control panel of the Diesel engine. This display is multi-functional and lets you view, through several screens to choice, the main functions related to plant electrical both under traction that generation, and therefore the level of charging of the batteries, the speed of rotation of the motoregeneratore, the temperatures of the cells and the inverter, etc.. MATERIALS H-eel is conceived not only as a hybrid engine boat, but also as environmentally eco-friendly boat to use sustainable materials for the realization of its components.
