WHO I AM AND WHAT I LIKE 1 I perceive architecture as an interdisciplinary occupation. I learned about architecture not only through design and engineering, but also through art, photography, music and film. They play an important role in the composition of my works.

2 I look for ways to implement sophisticated and complex architecture to real-world constraints. I work with complex structures and design for the conception of my projects while always thinking of them as a potential reality. They incorporate social research, the politics and technology of the building process while keeping a unique parametric design carrying my messages. In order to precisely assess the aesthetic values and adequacy, I put a strong emphasis on good visualization. 3 I aspire to learn how to create sustainable design to improve living conditions. Recently interested in sustainable architecture, I want to be able to integrate the concept in my design and to be able to work on it on a much larger scale.

Integrating a new and innovative sports center in the fabric of the city. The proposition is for a sports centre located in central Paris that is aimed towards development of amateur sport. My building is open to the street, inviting people to gather and engage

Due to the city’s lack of free and exterior sports utilities, the building provides an outdoor gym and a tennis court on the rooftop, and a climbing wall accessible from the street under any weather conditions.

The initial idea was to create public space ( ) along the busy street ( ), also enabling access from the smaller, calmer street ( ). The public space was to fluently transit into the building accommodating sports facilities.

The “loud function“ ( ) holding the sports facilities was moved deeper into the building, whereas the “silent function“ ( ), containing offices needing access to the light, was located behind the facade along the calmer street.

The first concept already featured the idea of seamlessly expanding the pavement into green public space. After more precise program analysis, though, it turned out that most of the front yard needs to be moved onto the rooftop due to the size of the building.

The form of the building has been inspired by dynamism of a fluid motion and organic structure of a muscle.

Due to substantial spread of the building, the public space has been extended into the green area located on the rooftop containing free sports facilities, acting like a park, meant to induce social interactions, as well as an outdoor gym.

The final form of the edifice corresponds to all inspirations and invites people from both streets, while fluently continuing the height of neighboring frontage, also providing protection from rain for wall-climbers and cafeteria guests.

The flow of public space in a private housing residence. In this exercise, students were supposed to come up with a proposal for the “Reinventer Paris“ competition. The plot was situated in the heart of the Paris Rive Gauche Urban Development Zone (ZAC). With my groupmates, we put a strong emphasis on the common space that divides the building in two, as to induce more social interactions between the residents. The urban space is composed of green areas and small gardens for everyone to use to promote gardening and urban agriculture in the dense city of Paris.


The urban space pierces through the building, creating a new “green” street.

Each apartment has different views on each side of the building, while keeping the inhabitants’ privacy.

03 | TECA Location: Paris, France Project type: Academic Individual/Group: Individual 12

A link between two streets and two amenities. TECA stands for “la Tour d’Esprit et de la Création Level: Semester 5 Date: Fall 2014 Supervisor: Michel Levi, Dragoslav Mirkovic, michel.levi@paris-valdeseine.archi.fr

Artistique“. My proposition is a youth house aimed to educate and train young people in the fields of music, film, theater and photography. Placed at the junction of two streets located at different heights, the building is designed to tie the two levels physically and visually. Moreover, I studied how to properly associate the student living quarters with the learning facilities within the design of the edifice, resulting in the ideal link.


The student accomodation (

) was supposed to

correspond to the neighboring residential buildings. The central function volume containing learning, administration and common rooms ( ), has been placed on the main avenue, whereas the large volume containing exhibition space and theater ( ), has been located along the lower street.

The semi-organic form of the building derives from the idea of fluid transition between different levels of the adjacent streets, as well as neighboring buildings. Moreover, the soft curvatures on the ground floor gently invite people into the building or patio forming an extension of public space.

The artistic nature of the project asked for an extraordinary aesthetic meant to stimulate the students’ creativity. The intention has been achieved with the use of futuristic forms along with reflective materials, forming an interesting contrast with the green, semi-public space on a patio.

The cosiness of an intimate “nest“ in a substantial residential building. The following work is a conception of a family housing complex. The exercise was aimed to familiarize students with a process of making a project as a commission for local developers in realistic conditions. The main challenge of this task was following the real regulations of the chosen site while meeting the demands of the investor. The Equitone firm has sponsored a contest aimed to emerge the best project at the university, and mine has received the 1st place among around fourty other works.


The plot is situated on Jana z Kolna street in Gdynia, Poland. It is an existing site with its building regulations that the students were supposed to follow. The “core“ of the building is made of the regular block-shaped volume containing three staircases.

The “arms“ of the building have been extended from the initial volume in order to efficiently create more flats, thereby meeting the developer’s requirements. The created volumes are shaped in the forms of two bunches consisting of “nests“ directed towards the south, reaching for the sun and making cosy spaces for living.

The motive of a continuous pipe is featured across the building, corresponding to the port city’s industrial background. Additionally, the rounded edge refers to Gdynia’s famous modernist style.

Conformed to nature and light for creativity stimulation. The goal of this project was to create a comfortable and stylish home for a big family of artists while challenging the students to come up with interesting, attractive and functional design within the limits of an existing site and actual local regulations. My proposal is supposed to provide the inhabitants with comfortable home as well as a creativitiy-stimulating environment through its choice of materials, form and large openings for the light.


The glazing located on the southern side lets plenty of natural light into the house, not only creating pleasant atmosphere, but also heating up the solid concrete floor and walls in order to increase the building’s thermal performance. The big window to nature is an additional value. 23

During my internship at Atsushi Kitagawara Architects in Tokyo, I have participated in a wide range of tasks and projects. These renderings sum up my work on one of them, being the showroom in the NSK headquarters in Japan. I have modeled the proposed interior and rendered it in an accurate manner, giving suggestions on illumination, design and materials. I also worked on physical models representing this space, further analysing its potential. 25

In this commission for “Domy hybrydowe“ company, I was hired to collaborate with MAT architects - located in Sopot, Poland - on the design, and make all the illustrations for marketing purposes. The project’s theme is an ecological, economical and attractive modern cottage that can be built in various environments.

In this collaboration with MAT architects, I took part in the design of interiors for United Technologies corporation in their new office building located in Gdansk, Poland. I was also fully in charge of the architectural visualizations representing our project.

One of the illustrations I made for the MAT architects, with whom I participated in a conception of residential buildings for a competition. The project is part of a revitalization of the Granary Island in central Gdansk, Poland, that has been a wasteland since the WWII, when all the granaries contributing to the citiy’s status as the largest Baltic harbour were destroyed.

During my one year abroad in Paris, France, I fell in love with traditional photography and exposed a few dozens rolls of medium format film. After coming back to Poland, I decided to organise an exposition focused mainly on the architecture and the culture, in an attempt to share my feelings towards this beautiful city. 37
