A merger at Odelia Grey’s law firm has put her job in jeopardy, and her new icy-cold boss, Erica Mayfield, has it in for her. The humiliation doubles when Erica dumps her three-year-old niece with Odelia and disappears for the weekend. The nerve! Primed for a confrontation, Odelia impulsively goes to her boss’s house in the middle of the night—and finds Erica’s sister murdered. Before she knows it, Odelia’s madcap misadventure to prove her own innocence ends up in a cuddly cradle of crime. Praise for the Odelia Grey Mystery Series: “A priceless series . . . a real treat for chick-lit fans who like feisty women.”— Library Journal (starred review) “Plus-size reading pleasure. Try this one on!”—Lee Child, New York Times bestselling author of Die Trying “Bodacious . . . wickedly satisfying.”—Publishers Weekly.
Reviews I had been awaiting this novel since I finished number six. It was certainly worth the wait. First off I noticed that I remembered the characters and their
relationship without any effort. This latest book moves forward in time and still easily kept me connected to events in the past. Sleuth, Odelia Grey is trying to cope with the changes and competition that occur when two corporations merge. Although promises were made to the employees of the older firm, fondly known as 'Woobie.' Odelia quickly learns that her job is in jeopardy. Also, her direct boss, Erica is not a nice person and is trying to swing the law partners into laying off Odelia. So, it is with some shock, yet not total shock, that Odelia learns Boss Erica has saddled her with Erica's sister's daughter, three-year old, Lily. I must admit this stretched my imagination a bit. However, Erica had papers authorizing Odelia guardianship and if Odelia accepted the charge, then? Erica leaves the office without any word or message so Odelia has to take the little girl home for the weekend. Nosy Odelia smells that something is up. So, being impetuous, she goes to Erica's home to see if she is hiding there for some odd reason...instead Odelia finds Lily's mother's body. The police are not happy nor is Odelia's husband, Greg, nor is anyone else. Odelia finds herself in something that is very nasty and is leading to her own demise. Ms. Jaffarian has not lost her touch of drama and solid relationships. I finished the book with a strong hope to see novel number eight in this series. ================================================== Odelia Grey is hanging onto her job... just! With the merger of two companies, Odelia's job is in the jeopardy, especially since her new boss doesn't like her at all. When she gets lumped with Erica's neice, things get worse, and even worse when the little girl's mom turns up dead. I've been hooked on this series from the very first book in the series, Too Big to Miss. For me, Sue Ann Jaffarian is a master storyteller who knows how to wrap her readers in murder, mystery and mayhem like no other. Whenever I knew Odelia Grey book is released I get excited for the evening when I set aside family and commitments and get wrapped up in a fabulous murder mystery. Hide and Snoop was definitely all this and more.
I loved the mystery. It had me clicking the pages of my kindle faster and faster, as both Odelia and I tried to figure out the killer - she solved it before me. I've liked the character the author has created in Odelia from the very first book. She is strong, no-nonsense and so real. No size 0 model here, thank you. I really think she appeals to the average mystery reader. I like how she has grown so much in the books in between. In Hide and Snoop she is further tested when she takes on the task of looking after a toddler. I love how Zee, Odelia's best friend, came together to help her with Lily, the toddler in question. This was such a good read, and it will definitely be making my top 10 list of mysteries this year. If you haven't picked up this series yet, what are you waiting for? Go read!
