Ash, Jace, and Gabe: three of the wealthiest, most powerful men in the country. They’re accustomed to getting anything they want. Anything at all. For Ash, it’s the woman who changes everything he’s ever known about dominance and desire... When it comes to sex, Ash McIntyre has always explored his wilder side—extreme and uncompromising. He demands control. And he prefers women who want it like that. Even the women he’s shared with his best friend, Jace. But Jace is involved with a woman he has no intention of sharing. And now even Gabe has settled into a relationship with a woman who gives him everything he needs, leaving Ash feeling restless and unfulfilled. Then Ash meets Josie, who seems immune to his charms and his wealth. Intrigued, he begins a relentless pursuit, determined she won’t be the one who got away. He never imagined the one woman to tell him no would be the only woman who’d ever drive him to the edge of desire..
Reviews This book was very disappointing. I agree with the other reviews with a similar rating. I feel like through much of the book I was reading scenes from the previous two. The weird obsession Ash had was similar to what Jace had. Ash sending guards seemed very familiar, as well; the threats/attack on bad
boyfriend same as Gabe's attack at the end of the first one. I don't know. Maybe my expectations were out of bounds, but I was torn between disbelief at the over the top unbelievable actions the characters were taking and boredom because I knew they would act TSTL. I did not understand why Ash was the way he was or why he fell in love with the girl or why she fell in love with him or why the ex behaved the way he did or the parents. Ash did not seem like the same person from the previous two books. NONE of it made sense or came from a place of real emotions. The characterizations were too ridiculous and the payoff unearned. Why would I care about any of these dumb people? The best scene was the girl's night out, and even that had some crazy nonsense in it. I want to return the book. I feel like with the excessive price for eBooks that I cannot use in the same manner as paperbacks, I am justified in returning books that I feel are not of the quality required for my money. With a paperback, I can donate or send to a used book store. With eBooks, it just sits in my Kindle, taunting me and taking up needed space. I have a few days to decide. ==================================================
This was one of those sequels where your overall view of the book is better, JUST because you loved the previous so much. I LOVED Fever, to this day one of my favorite books, and I really liked Ash in it, so I had high expectations for Burn, but it was... just ok. First off the good, I really did like Ash and Josie's relationship, yes they moved fast, but it worked for them and this book. I read romances because I want everyone to fall in love and be happy. Josie was a good character and she fit well with the others, and Ash, although not as good as he was in the previous books, he was still sexy and appealing in a possessive way. Ugh the bad. What was up with the lack of pronouns from Ash? At first I didn't mind, it made him sound very alpha male, very caveman, but he always talked that way to Josie, it made him sound almost robotic and it took a lot of feeling from his words. He made him very flat, which disappointed me because I totally feel in love with him in Fever when he had his alone moment with Bethany.
Still liked it, didn't love it, but absolutely recommend it if you've read the first two.
