Monsoons are also known as rainy season. It lasts from June to September, which makes summers wet and winters dry. It brings a sigh of relief to many, the greenery everywhere, however it also brings flood and muddy paths & health risks too and somewhere a life to the insects & animals. It’s a big escape from the heat & humidity.
Kids love to dance in the rain, one can enjoy hot tea witnessing lush green paradise all around. And the farmers wait for the rain for their crops.

Everyone makes sure carrying umbrellas & raincoats to avoid getting wet. Jumping and playing in the puddle, the rain might interest you but invites bacteria & viruses too.
Here are some most important preventive measures needs to be taken during monsoons so that the season could be enjoyed to the fullest:
PRECAUTIONS:
• Drink boiled & clean water to prevent the water-borne diseases.
• Stay hydrated, have enough fluid intake, try to have clean drinking water to the reduced thirst & prevent the dehydration in rainy season & fresh fruits juices.
• Avoid street food and junk food to avoid the digestive system infections, rather refer freshly cooked food & get to know how freshly the food is kept and washed outdoors
• Don’t let the stagnant water building up around the garden & roads & destroy breeding ground for mosquitoes to avoid the diseases like Dengue, Chikangunia & Malaria. There should always be covered pots & vessels.
• If you love taking stroll in rain and get wet, this might be refreshing, but don’t forget to add disinfectant to the bath water to kill the germs and bacteria
• Avoid eating pre-cut fruits and vegetables, the longer the food items are exposed to open air gives life to the harmful microorganisms. Don’t forget to wash them thoroughly
• Eat seasonal fruits like Apples, Pomegranate, Pears, Litchis & Cherries and take advantage of the proper vitamins, minerals & antioxidants
• Consume Vitamin –C rich foods like Orange, Grapefruits, Kiwis, Broccoli & Bell peppers which improves the immune system & defense from several diseases
• Take probiotics to keep the gut healthy, it helps in lowering risk of gastrointestinal problems by encouraging the growth of advantageous bacteria in digestive tract
• Take light and balanced diet specially in the rainy season to stay healthy
• Add Onion and Garlic in your food and everyday diet to stay away from respiratory infections as they have antiviral & antibacterial qualities
• Use refrigerator and airtight containers to avoid food contamination & spoilage of food.
CAUTIONS:
• Drive safely during rainy season and avoid potholes and wet path, must take cautions from falling and slipping on roads
• Don’t touch electric wires, stay away from fallen wires and poles which becomes risky in rain and logged water
• Maintain some distance from the sick people, keep yourself safe and informed as the flu & common cold cases becomes active in the season
• Use air-conditioned room when you are dry and not drenched in rain, if the clothes are wet you might catch the common cold.
