Our inns offer a unique blend of old and new, providing a relaxed mixture of excellent food, comfortable interiors, local cask beers and fine wines in stunning rural locations.

The Plough Inn, Lupton Just a couple of minutes from the M6, surrounded by fields, lies one of the Lake District’s finest boutique style inns. Welcoming guests for nearly 200 years, this old coaching inn has been lovingly restored, creating five individually designed luxury bedrooms and suites worthy of their five star rating.

A mix of genuine antique furniture, comfy leather sofas and colourful rugs create a rustic farmhouse feel. The Brathay slate topped bar and polished oak floors lead effortlessly into the light and airy Farleton room, made homely by wood burning stoves and open fires.

Set in idyllic Cumbrian countryside between two National Parks, The Plough Inn is perfectly located for exploring the Lakes and Dales. Impressive views from Farleton Knott, Ruskin’s view and the beautiful Lune Valley are all within a few minutes’ drive. The pretty historic market town of Kirkby Lonsdale, with its eclectic mix of independent and boutique shops is within easy reach.

The Punch Bowl Inn & Restaurant, Crosthwaite This award winning restaurant with rooms, rests alongside the parish Church of St Mary’s, in the sleepy village of Crosthwaite. It is known that this popular coaching inn has been at the heart of the community and provided a home away from home for visitors since 1829.

During the extensive refurbishment beautiful Cumbrian slates were found beneath the old dining room floor, now laid in the bar they complement the locally sourced Brathay slate bar top and shabby chic furniture. The restaurant with its stunning stone fireplace and polished oak floors provide a beautiful relaxed atmosphere in which to dine.

Nestled in the unspoilt Lyth Valley, (an area famed for its damsons) set deep in the Lake District National Park. The scenery in this part of the world is stunningly beautiful all year round. From a ‘host of golden daffodils’ and frothy white clouds of damson blossom in spring, to long cold drinks on hot summer days, early morning mists and rich amber shades of autumn, frosty mornings, dramatic sunsets and snow capped fells in winter.

The accommodation at The Plough and The Punch Bowl is synonymous with luxury. Rooms have their own unique identity, decorated in the soft tones of Farrow & Ball. Each is individually designed with an eclectic mix of antique and rustic furniture. Sumptuous fabrics and decadent bathrooms with feature lit roll top baths complete the look. The aim is simple, to create a home away from home experience, where guests can relax, unwind and be well and truly spoiled. Rooms and suites take their names from historical figures in the local community. The Punch Bowl’s are taken from a list of previous incumbents of St Mary’s Parish Church. The most spectacular room “Noble”, is open to the eaves throughout. Everything about this room is on a grand scale; enormous bed, themed lighting, adjoining bathroom with twin roll top baths. The other eight rooms are equally as charming, all have their own character, most of which benefit from breathtaking views of the Lyth Valley and surrounding countryside. The Plough’s rooms are named after former landowners of Lupton dating back to the Domesday survey of 1058. Torsin the largest suite, flaunts an oversized sleigh bed, vast waterfall shower and huge slipper bath with toasty warm tiles beneath your feet. Like all the rooms at The Plough, Bellingham’s cottage feel suite, is flooded with natural light from large sash windows.

Only the best local and seasonal produce are used by the dedicated team of chefs at Punch Bowl Inns, creating a menu designed to be enjoyed throughout the day. A regular in the good food guide the 2AA rosette Punch Bowl has been the recipient of numerous plaudits and accolades, including the prestigious Michelin pub of the year in the 2009 edition and has recently been named one of the top ten gastro pubs in the country. Signature dishes include; twice baked Lancashire cheese soufflé with homemade tomato chutney and wilted spinach. Cumbrian loin of lamb, mini shepherd’s pie, broad beans, peas and mint jelly is a seasonal favourite. In contrast, the award winning food at The Plough is focussed on comfort and sustenance. Daily changing blackboards feature ‘Pub Favourites’ such as, potted Gressingham duck with toasted sourdough. The Kirkby Lonsdale Monumental ale battered haddock continues to be a favourite amongst lunchtime diners.
