Preparing for the growing season involved a plethora of considerations. A little planning now can save you a lot of time, effort and trouble weeks, months, and even years down the line.
Welcome to the 2022 edition of the Top Crop Manager Fungicide Guide for Eastern Canada. This guide is intended to be a comprehensive resource when choosing your fungicides and application timing for the coming season and includes the products registered (at the time of publication) for a variety of common diseases. We hope you’ll consult the charts herein when planning out your disease management strategy.
Disease management is far from static and simple. New diseases and pathogens develop in or migrate into Canadian fields occasionally – for example, tar spot has been included in this guide in response to the disease’s encroachment on Ontario corn fields. If fungicides are part of your management strategy, it’s important to consider how to mitigate resistance development and use the whole agronomic toolbox when making management decisions each year. Be sure to take into account products used in previous years to switch things up and reduce selection pressure, which will help to slow the development of fungicide resistance and keep more options available in the future.
This guide is compiled with the help of multiple resources and companies and is as accurate as possible at publication time. Growers should always doublecheck product labels and consult a professional to avoid errors.
