Wind Over the years wind turbines have caused revolt, which resulted in strict planning policies. Figure 85 shows the potential locations for wind parks (turbines of 2,3 MW) with the current policies in mind. Next to that figure 86 illustrates the potential locations that disregard these policies, but consider potential, safety and environmental regulations. In comparison, the policies result in a lot of restrictions. While of course the influence on liveability due to turbines and therefore the acceptability of new ones should not be underestimated, a difference in spatial impact can be made by considering the spatial patterns. Perception differs when turbines are scattered around the landscape, put in linear positions (maybe in order to emphasize lines in a landscape) or put together in large parks. In addition, figure 87 shows that a single wind turbine already has a lot of restrictions itself that already also take liveability (“can not be placed in proximity to...”) and acceptance into account.
