A few of us ventured out in June competing,

There was a great turn up to the June rally in what can only be described as ‘poo’ conditions, it was wet, cold and the wind was going sideways. It’s good to know that the next rally will be indoors at the super Jack’s Run owned by member Wendy Christensen. Congratulations in this newsletter to the clever team of Marion and Michelle who are both happy at home with their new sons, each being

From all accounts the Trivia night was a huge

success with the team of Evelyn, John, Brendan

and Nicole knowing the answers to the most inane questions and scooping the pool. I think Angus Middlebrook deserves a special mention for attending CARABI to support members- looks like he deserves an ‘8’ for his medium trot!

Happy reading and rug up!

Rider’s Results for June Only a few members out in May & June braving the cold, seems more sensible to be home rugged up! Please send your results to Karen Middlebrook so that they can be counted in for the end of year awards otherwise you could be missing out on being immortalised on aluminium on a club plaque. General Club Grounds Thank you to all who have been cleaning up after themselves and their horses at rally, please keep this up and set an example for others. Uniforms Tammy will be at the July rally (indoor at Jack’s Run) for new members wishing to order and purchase club uniforms.

NEWSFLASH! We have a full team competing in the TTT Nav Ride, August 19th at Tallarook.

Club Rallies We are lucky to have Tracy Lee for dressage and Chris Mann for showjumping at our July indoor rally. The fabulous Tracy Lee will be incorporating cavaletti exercises once again. This was very popular in March and I can confirm that the exercises allow riders to either use the cavalettis or ride passed them. Chris Mann is generally committed to instructing at Wandin Park on Saturdays so we are privileged to have him teaching at our July Rally. Chris has been popular at Gisborne DARC for a number of years and is a General Level 2 EA Coach.

Upcoming Rallies

Now that winter is here our rallies will be indoors for the next 3 months at Jacks Run, Bolinda. Jacks Run is a wonderful family owned equestrian facility and Wendy is also a member of our club. Here is a link to the website for you to have a look at the venue and get directions http:// The schedule for our indoor rallies is as follows, Dressage - in the Indoor arena from 9am till 1pm, then weather permitting in the outdoor arena from 1.30pm. (NB Group lessons take priority over private in the indoor arena) Showjumping - in the indoor arena from 1.30pm till 5.30pm, showjumping set up is from 1pm to 1.30pm.

Short Ride is Julie Stanley and Asta Harvey and the long ride is Emily Fairmaid and Amanda Edwards. The Team Name is the Gisborne GiddyUps!

Based on this we have 12 morning indoor dressage spots and 12 afternoon indoor showjumping spots available on a first in best dressed basis. In the interest of fairness if you would like to book 2 lessons, please indicate if you have a first choice. Our aim is to maximise the number of members participating which may result in one lesson per rider subject to bookings, but hopefully this won't be necessary and every wish can be accommodated. The schedule will be put together as fairly as possible. If any lessons cannot go ahead, due to the weather or schedule, then payment for these lessons can be carried over to next time. NB There is a $10 facility fee per rider to contribute to the venue hire, so one lesson is $45 and 2 lessons is $70. Water Jump Working Bee by Lucy Nicholson Members from IR Robertson Reserve Committee, PC & ARC worked through the cold wintery weather to bring the water jump renovation project to very near completion. Two Little Boys had two little toys...each had a wooden horse by Lucy Nicholson Two little boys have arrived! Michelle and Paul, welcomed Harrison William Beven into the world on Sunday 27th May at 7.40pm weighing 8 pound 6 oz then Marion and Andrew welcomed Samuel Robert Maxted into the world just 2 days later on Tuesday 29th May at 9.12pm weighing 8 pound 7 oz. It's amazing that they didn't arrive at the same time and on the same day, I think many of us thought this might happen! With Michelle and Marion being such good friends I'm sure these two will grow up great buddies too. Congratulations to the proud parents and their families!
