Ireland’s leading security solutions business, G4S Secure Solutions Ireland (G4S), has further strengthened its position in the Irish security sector by acquiring certain assets of one of Ireland’s top monitoring businesses, Alarm Monitoring Services Ltd. (AMS) also trading as “i-watch”. The acquisition will allow G4S to continue to develop its business across the Irish CCTV, patrol and response and keyholding sectors and meet the growing demand for security among Irish businesses

and organisations. The acquisition allows G4S Secure Solutions expand its business and offer a stronger, more effective and comprehensive security service to some 40,000 businesses, organisations and enterprises across Ireland. AMS, which is owned by its founder Tim O’Shea, has 30 employees based at its monitoring centre in Citywest, Dublin from where it manages around 15,000 end users. As a result of the acquisition G4S Ireland’s alarm response unit based

in Killester, Dublin will move to the AMS premises in Citywest, where a state of the art alarm monitoring centre will be expanded in 2012. Niall Feely, Managing Director, G4S Secure Solutions (Ireland) commented: “We are very pleased to welcome Tim and the AMS team to G4S. This is a very important acquisition for us which allows us to expand our business and offer a stronger, more effective and comprehensive security service to some 40,000 businesses, organisations and enterprises across Ireland. Security issues are a growing source of worry to Irish businesses and it is important for us, as the industry leader, to continue to expand our business and bring greater security and reassurance to our customers”.

Paxton appoints GVD to grow its IP access control business Paxton Access Ltd. has appointed GVD, the leading IP technology value added distributor in Ireland to help grow its IP access control business. Paxton has been working with Milestone, the open platform company, to fully integrate the Paxton software with the Milestone video management software. This integration is now fully tested and available on the market. Kevin Dunne from Paxton says, ”With the partnership between Paxton & Milestone completed it was only natural that we in Paxton would like to work with GVD who are the only Advanced Certified Distributor of Milestone in Ireland. Having developed the Milestone reseller channel in Ireland & the UK over the last number of years, we believe GVD is ideally placed to grow Paxton’s share of the IP access control market”. The software integration of Paxton’s Net2 product with Milestone XProtect® video management software is a true two way integration. The Milestone software is able to see all the alarms and alerts that are received in the Paxton software and associate specific doors with cameras. These can also be organised into groups where user rights access can be assigned to open specific groups of doors and see the corresponding cameras tagged to these doors.

Gordon Smith, Managing Director, says “We are delighted to work with Paxton and are confident that we can help our customers increase their IP business by integrating with the Milestone VMS platform in terms of access control. I’d also like to extend an invitation to all Risk Manager readers to see Paxton and Milestone integration, which in a world exclusive, will be unveiled at NIPX2011, the annual IP Surveillance event on 18th October in Dublin and 20th of October in Cork”.
