WORK PROJECTS

PIXELation This gate for Erlangga House created by composing aluminium shingles tilted horizontally in two different angles: 5 and 15 degree. No different paint color added, just a diffferent shade appear on shingle surface, created tree-shaped pattern.

Anna.Silalahi@gmail.com | +62818 0871 7077

The early idea in designing this unique sliding gate is to create abstract mosaic pattern from shade and shadow. In the process I found out that embedding a certain image made the design more interesting, so I began to compile the aluminium shingles to impose images of tree from the branches to the trunks.

INTERIOR DESIGN Designing sheek and neat, using red-oak panelled wall and minimalist loose furniture, the concept is to create a good ambience, with placement ornament in the primer point of direction, and compact built-in cabinets.

WALL ORNAMENT

Anna.Silalahi@gmail.com | +62818 0871 7077

This wall ornament, comprises of eight modules. The modules basically derived from same shape, each rotated and mirrored. Then, those cladded in two different materials, gypsum with duco paint, and mirror glass. Contractor stacked the modules referring to pattern-map I made, put it together in one frame, and inserted LED light behind the frame creating unique glowing ornament.

The clients wants a ‘lighter’ partition for laundry and drying area. Because of the layout, people sit in the dining room can look straight to this area. The skin designed so the laundry can still have air-flow comes from the outside, and at the sametime, people stand in both laundry and dine area can not see each other for the comfort reason.

ORNAMENTAL SKIN

Module’s shape inspired from flower petals. Each petal tilted 15 degree, enough for air comes through but still maintain its vision restraining. This modules made from steel plates, and locked to the frame behind it with a joint in the center of the module.

NABILA HOUSE

The comissioner is one of known film artist in Jakarta. We got the schematic design process prolonged , starting from resort-typologic house with balĂŠ and clustered houses, and change drastically into a classic-themed house. The clients specifically wants a pool terrace for her to do barbeques and parties..As the theme applied, I must make sure that composition and proportion works, as a good symmetry is preferred in this kind of typology.

Re-designing facade. This project got postponed once, and when it is about to be started over, the client wants an alternative front facade to be made. This is a study of the facade in a light-classic theme.

The client owns some slots of land in this area and already come up with a feasibility study result to built house with classic theme, as the expratriates preference. Once finished, these houses will be rented in long time period, usually 2-5 years. I got to design one of the houses, that come with a special requirements of a swimming pool with its pool terrace.

Something spacious, some unique-shaped building with a potential to be landmark, something symbolic, some fun public area in BANDUNG SPACE CENTER

BANDUNG SPACE CENTER

The major aspects of designing this final project calls up the peculiarity of space center. A space center usually disclose a rather complex structure., regularly employed a dome which housing an imax theater planetarium. Ambience and sequence also an important thing to be considered. The shape inspired by sundial needle, that stands inclined in a degree of altitude. People comes from the main plaza welcomed by lobby in level 2. The land topoghraphy is sunk about 5 meter below the street level, this condition used to place the lobby as a point of direction leading to two different zone: permanent exhibit (at the upper of lobby) and temporary exhibit in the lower level.

MODERN PAINTING MUSEUM

Anna.Silalahi@gmail.com | +62818 0871 7077

This is 3rd year academic project of designing a building with one major theme. I decided to create a modern painting museum, located in Bandung, Indonesia. Cubism, the theme I chose, is a painting style founded by Pablo Picasso, and flowering in Indonesia, starting in Bandung, by the scholar of Art Faculty of ITB. In cubist artworks, objects are broken up, analyzed, and re-assembled in an abstracted form—instead of depicting. The fragmatic parts gives a lure effect: frozen movement, a motion which translated into still object.

The fragmatic parts gives a lure effect: frozen movement, a motion which translated into still object. My idea is to apply some fragmental agents, a shape that create a still movement effect.

Fragment Ideas Observing various shapes with its probability to create wavy pattern when stacked together . Fragments number 4 would likely produce the pattern that I wanted, plus unique shade and shadow (picture A) Doubling the buckling reveals a more complex shape, and somehow create balance. In this picture I start getting ideas to continuing the fragments body into the interior to be parition where the paintings hung. (picture B)
