2009 OGP ZINFANDEL THE ORIGINAL GRANDPÈRE VINEYARD Amador County Description: Produced from the historic Original Grandpère Vineyard in California’s Shenandoah Valley of Amador County, this 100% OGP Zinfandel is the epitome of Sierra Nevada old-vine Zinfandel from reputedly the oldest documented continuously producing Zinfandel vineyard in California—dating back to the 1860s. This is our eighth vintage from this vineyard. Submerged cap fermentation favors a fruit-forward gentle extraction of the grapes while retaining the peppery spiciness that Amador County Zinfandel is renowned for. Twenty-one months of French Oak barrel aging brings an elegance and complexity to this traditional style old-vine Zinfandel. The 2009 OGP Zinfandel is a multi-dimensional wine with great balance and structure; notes of black pepper, spice, and dust combine with complex and deep flavors of ripe raspberry and blueberry fruit. The OGP is the perfect accompaniment to filet and lamb preparations, black pepper pork loin, wild game, or ratatouille. Awards: No entries to date. Winery Retail Price: $29 per 750ml. bottle Specifications: Alcohol 15%; pH 3.58; Total Acidity .71 grams/100 ml; Residual Sugar >.25 grams/liter; Released August 2012; 475 cases produced.
