She was a part of the team focused on International Architectural Competitions. From her first days she faced the work with the short term projects and became compatible in teamwork. Anna has a good command of software. During research projects Anna prooved her skills and ability in obtaining, arranging and performing requirement information. In the early stages of creating the concept ideas she took active part in discussions, clearly analyzing current variants by improving or suggesting new. Not long ago the library was thought of as a huge archive, a storage of human knowledge. This idea was particularly expressed in design of the building. Static, monolithic and ponderous, often impressive in size, the building looked like a mausoleum or a fortress keeping safe the human culture accumulated throughout the centuries. Now the idea of the library is different. All human knowledge is just information that after being digisense in producing more containers for products of culture. What the library building should express is accessibility of information and etherealization of knowledge. Also the concept of information (being shared) is wider than the concept of knowl edge (being rather stored than shared), which means the space and activities in the library should become

To make library just the source of information is not enough today. This is the realm of the World Wide Web. Unlike the internet, the library in digital era should become local in its nature. Not only it shares information, but also it can provide intelligent pastime for local community and set space for live communication between people. These are the ideas we expressed indesign of Daegu Gosan Public Library.

There are two separate volumes, one on top of another. While the lower volume is a public zone available for all residents, the upper rectangular volume presents a concentration of library’s regular functions and userspaces. In the core of the building structure are the atrium stairs. They are not only the transit zone, but also a place for communicafor lecture, discussion or informal meeting. The lower volume is transparent, the upper one is solid, as if hovering over the ground. The reading and rise over the everyday. The illusion of levitation per volume’s facade. Thus, the library as a whole makes an impression of the lightweight and compact structure.The lower volume is made circular to avoid segmentation of the area. There is no main facade as such - the library looks “welcome” from all sides. The gear-like form of the lower volume lets the building be dissolved in the park around the library. It also gives extra space for greenery and outdoor rest area.

Kyiv Islands The main reason why Kyiv islands have become a wasteland is that they almost have no access from both sides of the river. For a 12-kilometer piece of land of Trukhaniv and Muromets islands there are only three points from which one can get into the area (from the Moscow bridge, from the pedestrian bridge and from Hydropark). Hardly anybody can cover the distance on foot and get pleasure from walking and contemplation. The Corridors Park is an axis of the islands Let us form an axis on which the islands from Muromets to Venetian lay. It is to become a new cultural center of Kyiv, we call it The Corridors Park. Tranformation of the area starts from here and gradually spreads onto the rest of the islands. The idea of the Park is based on preserving the ecological richness of the Before an after: Aviability site and at the same time incorporating new urban practices. This equilibrium between conservation of nature and urbanization of the area is hit by designing an urban park with green corridors. The park consists of ten corridors. They are the landscape stripes except for the Smartroad that crosses the park from north to south. It consists of two levels: a monorail and a motorway. A seven-station monorail allows an even distribution of people arriving from left and right banks. The motorway connecting Rusanivka and Obolon neighborhoods is plugged in to existing highway crossings. It is a tollroad with a 60 km/h speed limit: to use it you have to pay. A Smartroad itself consists of piezoelectric elements that generate electricity from contact of the car wheels with the road. The amount of energy generated is enough to power the monorail, lighten the park and charge the electric Before an after: dissociation / association car batteries. Under the road is a pipe that disallows the polluting gas to escape into the atmosphere. The pipe absorbs CO2 and delivers it to a carbon dioxide processing unit (CDPU) on feeds microscopic seaweed. The seaweed is used to produce fuel.

The Landscape corridors create a diverse natural environment Le promenade corridor is a planted pedestrian and bicycle path. The Boulevard corridor is a transition space between the park and the urbanized area. The productive corridor is a place where fruit trees are planted. The waterfront corridor is a natural area that implements an anti-erosion strategy. The brook corridor provides water throughout the whole area of the project. The wetlands are located on both sides of the brook. The ecotone corridor is a protective space between the park and the adjacent areas. The native forest corridor consists of native plants. A maximum of existing trees is placed here. The evergreen corridor keeps the park green all year long. The crossing space between corridors is an essential part of design. There are three kinds of crossings: - geometrical mix: the transition between the corridors is made formal. - ecological mix: the crossing of two corridors creates a new ecosystem that takes 50% from each environment.

- typological mix: in the crossing site a new planted space emerges with no direct relation to either of the corridors. The curves and the crossings of the corridors generate open spaces. Depending on shape, size and location these clearings have different typologies. They can be lawns, pastures, playgrounds or even small sites for commerce (kiosk, newsstand etc).

Combining work and leisure helps revitalize Hydropark

Eco-village in the core of megapolis People from all-over Ukraine visit Kyiv to become familiar with modern trends. This is not only contemporary art and music or some fashion boutiques, but also the metropolis itself. The center of the capital embodies a modern man and his lifestyle. Thus, we treat the center of Kyiv as a placeholder for an important message to be read by its visitors. The Dnipro islands is a piece of nature to be preserved among asphalt (roads), concrete (buildings) and metal (cars). Which is why the islands could become the Ukrainian headquarters of eco-culture that spread the ideas of eco-consciousness, nature preservation and organic farming among the citizens. Eco-village requires neither construction nor terrain transformation. It consists of a temporary housing that is integrated in existing environment. Among those are wofati buildings, summer tree houses and winter igloos. Gardening, gathering plants and vegetables for a meal, soil cultivation are welcome here. An eco-village would develop new (at least, not widely known in Ukraine) agricultural forms: a crater garden, raised garden beds, permacultural gardening and farming techniques. Eco-camping on Trukhaniv island could be both a short-term accomodation for tourists and an alternative family entertainment for weekends. Eco-village is also a perfect place for educational events – seminars, workshops and exhibitions. Instead of connecting each island with a set of bridges to both of the river banks, a common axis of the islands is formed. The passageway going through the islands along the river is connected to existing highway crossings providing wide access to the islands. Another approach is creating a diversity of functions. Recreation area is not a recreation-only space. This implies various scenarios of pastime and makes the area people-friendly throughout the day.

Activities vs Contemplation

The cityscape-axis that is already formed by the Esplanadi Park is made longer and now envelopes the north-western part of the harbour. The linear regularity of the alley is disseminated by the Maze Park with the Havis Amanda in the center. The square behind the Maze serves as the departure place of route and cruise ships. The Green Alley on the Eastern shoreline of the harbour provides various entertainment facilities: a playground for children, man-sized chess, fountain, sculptures, bathhouses.

The core of the South Harbour is a Helsinki Water access from one zone to the other Ăą either by bicycle or on foot. While the shoreline is abundant with activities, the Circle is an empty space for contemplation. It is a path for walking (or sitting on a bench) that offers picturesque views of the city. Rising 14m above the water level in its highest point it also makes a passage way for tourist ships.

SPORT AREA In this project I offer new infrastucture of public water-transport along the Dni per River. (More detailed information on this topic I introduce on the CD ) After analysing the situation with new alternative mean of transport the set of conclusions was made: 1. To leave the existing River-terminal in Pochtova square as one of the central station. 2. To designate its function as an international river-port to new one. 3. To locate the new River-Port on the South part of the capital seeing its southern development. The Location of the new River-Port is at the today s industrial zone, thats gonna change its purpose in new multifunctional massiv (according to the new General Plan of Kiev 2025). This region is perfect for new way of transport to appear, as is situated near the intersection of two main highways of Kiev, one of which connects the city with the main airport Borispil. Although it is the firs view of Right-Bank of Kiev that see the guests. And the new metro station is built there.



Besides the River-port building, the main task was to remodel the way city meets the water. Improve level of recreation of the waterfront.Improve pedestrians to ease access to the water from the city and along the water. That is why the new infrastructure was designed with sport area (extreamsport, bycicle, swimming, skiing, fishing)walking paths, parks, commercial points, promenade deck, marians for all kinds of water transport (private, public, water taxi)

In this project I attemped to develop “Creative cluster” in the disfunctional industrial area of K i e v. S u c h e x a m p l e s o f exploitation the old industrial buildings for creative works, offices, living etc. progress successfully in large cities. Though Kiev, despite its growth, doesn’t use out-of-use territory for another function, just leaving the buildings for destruction. The chosen area is a peninsula on the Dnipro river in the central part of Kiev. It’s full of old ship-building factories and hangars. It has a great potential to turn into cultural center of the city.

The New Theater occupies the territory of the abandoned shipbuilding Blacksmiths. It’s volume lets settle the blocks with 2 theatre stages and it’s technical stuff, workshops for the artists and actors, performance place and the cafe. The Theater is organized as a museum and all the visitors can watch the process inside and even take part in it.

In my native city students of architectural and building faculties frequently experience lack of specialized literature. Location of the Library is conditioned by the intercections of the students ways from all the specialized schools and univercities of Kiev. This is the central part of the city in the middle of the historical cultural complex with Concert Hall, Cinema and National Art Museum. During more then 80 years all this buildings were not connected, hence to the sharp terrain of this area.

My task was to create the connection between them. The solution was to do it in such contemporary way by declining “the tapes” along the form of the hill.

STUDENT PROJECT OF THE COTTAGE FOR ARTIST s FAMILY. This project was designed during the second year of study. The concept: the corridor as a common social area with multifunctional blocks (bedrooms, kitchen, sport, workshop) strung on it. Presentation is done in graphic technich and collage bombing 2006


LAN WORKSHOP IN BARCELONA LaN OnSite Barcelona v2 workshop concluded with composite fabrication processes and associative design production. We joined a two phase / six module workshop series that immersed us in contemporary digital design and fabrication techniques. McNeel Rhinoceros was the base platform for all design and parameterization. Through the Grasshopper plugin for Rhino, we were able to create an interactive design worksfow which integrated the machining processes necessary to produce our designs. Other tools such as RhinoNest by TDM Solutions and RhinoCam by Mecsoft were explored during the 'Digital Fabrication' module. The entire workshop was hosted at the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalunya. All of the fabrication for the OnSite BCN workshop was done through the FabLabBCN. LaN partners Shane Salisbury and Luis E. Fraguada instructed the two week workshop series. The following images highlight one design chosen for production during the 'Machining Processes' seminar.
