The Presidents message Greetings Everyone,

I would like to thank you so much for your patience. Welcome to the 1st Ankh for 2022/23! Special thanks go to the Ankh Editor, Njavwa for giving us our first issue for the year. It has been a challenging year, but I can say, a good year. We have made a few wins, had our challenges but still had a few opportunities for us to work on. We will try our best to address this and we will always strive to do better.

The Ankh is basically a communication letter to members of our activities and what we have done under the period of review, we would like the Ankh to become a quarterly communication tool that National Council as well as the Tables use to get their ideas across. It is a good thing to attach to our project proposals as well as communicate some of our successes.

Table needs a way of recording what the association is doing, has done and wants to achieve in that Tabling year. To the Ankh Editor, stay focused and thank you so much for this publication. I know it's been a challenge to gather articles. Not everyone is forthcoming, but we do know that there are some creative minds among us. And as you have now seen, you have given them an opportunity to allow them to express themselves. I am proud to be part of your editorial team, to contribute articles and see its publication.

Not to belabor the point or to take away from the interesting articles that we are going to read in this issue, we encourage Tablers to take time to go through it. Give us some of your positive critique so that we improve so that this becomes something we can really be proud of.

3 Dear reader It is my absolute honor to present to you this publication of the

ANKH magazine for the tenure of 2022/2023 Tabling year which is coming to an end. Tabling in the period had it’s own challenges but the most devastating was the passing of our dear brother Eng. Wanunyima Akakandelwa. Words can not express the sorrow his family, work colleagues, friends and all of us felt during and after

the funeral proceedings. In line with this also worth noting is the other obituaries that were recorded in the various Business

Meetings, May their Souls Rest In Eternal Peace.

In this issue, you have the opportunity to immerse yourself in stories

and articles that have made a difference in the communities we serve, and I am excited to share with you some from the numerous

impactful changes we did.

I hope you will enjoy this instalment of ANKH and that you will find something that motivates you to become a better brother – and ultimately make Round Table Zambia a better organization.

Dear Nyima 5 It is hard to put into words just how much you meant to the people around you. You were more than just a brother, son and more than just a friendyou were a force for good in the world, a light that shone bright wherever you went.

One of the things that stands out most about you was your love for golf.

You had a real talent for the sport, and it was clear that you enjoyed every moment on the course. From your time as a junior, champion in Nchanga Chingola to reigniting your flame for the sport in kalumbila with the Life style Golf Group. But it wasn’t just about winning for- it was about the camaraderie, the shared love for the game and the opportunity to connect with people in a meaningful way. You brought joy and passion to everything you did, and golf was no exception.

Of course, golf was just one facet of your many talents. As a mechanical engineer, you had a deep understanding of how things worked, and you put that knowledge to use in all sorts of ways. From fixing up your own car, to handling major equipment for both Zambia Sugar and FQM Kalumbila where you practiced your trade. You had a knack for taking on projects that others might have shied away from. You were always up for a challenge, and you never hesitated to share your knowledge and skills with those around you.

But perhaps what we admired most about you was your commitment to charity work. Coming from a family of people of service to the community, your father a former Tabler now 41ner, mother former circler, sister circler hopeful and brother Tabler, you had a big heart ,and you truly cared about making a difference in the lives of others. Whether it was plant trees in the local community or organizing fundraisers for causes you believed in, you always found a way to give back. This was evident in your Round table Zambia journey that saw you be appointed as secretary for No.1 as you spear head the extension of RTZ to Kalumbila. You were a reminder that we all have the power to make the world a better place, one small act of kindness at a time.

Although you are no longer with us, your legacy lives on with the countless lives you touched. You were a son, a brother, a friend, and a role model, and you will be missed more than words can express. However, we take comfort knowing that you are at peace now, and that your memory will continue to inspire us all.

Rest in peace, Wamunyima Akakandelwa, thank you for everything.

MESSAGE FROM THE VICE PRESIDENT Dear reader, I often get asked, “How I see Round Table” in the next Tabling year,

looking at our objectives and what I hope to achieve. Firstly what we need is a strong team of Tablers that are truly passionate about Tabling and what it stands for and I know it not a easy to change peoples behavious overnight, but I think we are in the right direction with some of the trainings we have introduced. Recently

we had the RTI University trainings dubbed, “Born to Lead”. From the interaction and overall participation I have hope that we will

have fruitful Tabling years. The training session Presented by University Manager Sachin Shah, supported by Vimal Baid and University Trainers Narender Agarwal & Himanshu Gupta. The approach I would like to take in the next Tabling involves having various highlevel meetings with business titans, this double edge

sword will help with the march needed publicity as well as accord Tablers in business an opportunity to network and be part of the bigger picture and shape our future. In this edition of the Ankh various issues have been raised and I certainly hope you will enjoy.

When I heard the donation on 23 rd July,2022 at Nchanga North Children’s ward

Hospital were “Michael 7” was I was delighted to note what Chingola No.7 did about M7s’ plight, I honestly swelled with pride and was quick to share the Facebook post. The action by the Table was very noble in the rightful sense and I really wish to see a lot come out of this. I remember after I had shared the Facebook post a lot of people reached to me and really appreciating the efforts

of the Table and really inquiring what Round Table is about, somehow this also had a marketing spin to it for would-be CSR partners or members.

We defiantly need to support the boy child in these times as well, no child should be left behind. Laying the foundation on M7 and other vulnerable

children gives us leverage to hope we will have a bright future to be really proud of.

Some research has shown that abandoned children would often feel anxious, distrustful, ashamed, and inadequate – and these feelings often follow into adulthood and make it diffcult for the

victims to form healthy, trusting relationships. If M7 gets grows up in a loving and caring environment, we could save him from low self-

estemm or feelings of unworthiness,

Kudos to Chingola Round Table No.7 for this selfless act, As an individual I am willing to be of help on any fundraising venture that

are out of the norm like this and I believe this sits at the top of what Impactful change really mean.

On the morning of 22nd Novemenber,2022, the members of Round Table Zambia were alerted to the tragic news of Past President of the Association of 41 Club Zambia Uncle Clement Mulenga Andala’s demise who sadly passed away at the Cancer hospital in Lusaka. May The Souls of the Departed Rest In Eternal peace.

Think about it As you get older, you tend to think a lot more. I don’t believe we get any wiser, just more aware that we know even less than we thought you knew.

Meditation can give you a sense of calm, peace and balance that can benefit both your emotional well-being and your overall health. You can also use it to relax and cope with stress by refocusing your attention on something calming. Meditation can help you learn to stay centred and keep inner peace.

Roundtable is an association of young professionals…and the rest of our definition follows.

When you think introspectively, am I doing my best to ensure that my belonging to this association is profitable? How is my performance? How is my conduct? What is my approach?

Past President, of Zambia and RTI, Moffatt Nyirenda once said, ‘I do not take a Tabler seriously who does not conduct himself professionally in business meeting and Table activities''. He said it was very hard to separate you professional and Table life as the two were intertwined. Those who excelled professionally and in their business did well in Table.

Those who came for a good time, it always shows.

And one thing I take from my professional life to my Table life is the respect for time.

Time is one resource you will never get back. How we manage it defines you. I see a good number of us like to waste time or have a casual approach to it. We start meeting late, want to discuss thigs for hours on end and basically assume you lack of care for it means the rest of the people do not have need to anything with theirs. With Tabling, a member chooses to use his time to meet people, make an impact and get a benefit. Along our journey, we make friends, but along it, we develop

15 habits and create patterns that we fall into subconsciously.

Are you constantly late? Do you have an excuse? Is your excuse, my family first, then work, then Table whenever you are asked why you didn’t do as expected? These responses are valid until they are the only excuses you can give. And an excuse is a reason for not doing something.

Let us have a reason to do something positive in our spheres of influence. And may our conduct and habits inspire others to do something. Did you know your behaviour may cause another Tabler to refrain from activities? And your conduct may cause others to shy away from activities. It can be your conduct on a chat group, overtly using strong language? Now not all people are drinkers or may not socialise with women as you do. A lot of people have an attitude of forcing behaviours on others or not caring if a younger Tabler is intimidated or bullied into other behaviours.

Let us be conscious of the influences we may impact on our fellow Tablers. We are an association of young professionals, a brother hood when we can meet and discuss without fear of persecution or prejudice. Let’s create an environment that enables all to be able to engage and act freely.

Ask yourselves, what do I bring to the Table, for Table? Am I portraying a picture of a young professional who wants to uplift my personal self, self-actualise and be beacon of hope? Or am I just part of the crown of binge drinkers who have come to tag along. How will I make a difference and stand out or help those who are struggling to do better?

I get a kick out of making an impact in my community, from giving, from making a change and to uplift a brother. When I see another sacrifice to make a change, I get motivated. I am not moved by binge drinking or partying. I

have moved to another plateau where ones impact on another must not be drug or money related but how one can change a person life by an act of kindness. That is real wealth that is power.

Do not confuse brotherhood with group addiction. There are some of us who are bonded by habits that are not positive and do not add value. It could be gossiping, binge drinking or public misdemeanour, decadence, notoriety and debauchery. These are not the tenets of friendship that add any value. Ask yourself why you interact and evaluate if it’s a positive friendship or one that leads you down a dark path. A friendship should be based on mutual respect, admiration, positive peer pressure and common values. If it’s based on destructive behaviours and the race to a lower level of existence, you need to revaluate your circle of friends. Be inspired by those who portray a life of humbleness, of positive family values and who are advocates of purposeful community engagement.

Be motivated by those who want to better themselves, their families and their communities and bring joy in other people lives. Aspire to be a beacon in your circle. Don’t mislead or inculcate a culture of mayhem that will take a brother into a personal hell that he will fail to escape.

Encourage one another do not try to demean or show your superiority. Great men discuss ideas. Normal men discuss current events. And monkeys discuss other people.

If you are discussing other people instead of how to achieve something, then it’s Time for some deep meditation, it all starts with a habit.

Be competitive in positive uplifting things. Let’s do more fundraising. Make more donations. Have more uplifting fellowships that make a positive impact. Let’s go hunting, go together for a football match, and watch MMA fighting, group dinners and concerts. Let’s Update our

skills, our education, build families and homes and start businesses. Network and bring value to your circle. Support each other’s business and share opportunities.

Let’s be a brothers keep and check up on one another .Let your kick off translate to value. Make your time count.

So I ask you all to meditate. Think of where you want to see yourself in 5, 10 and 20yrs.

What must you do now to be prepared for your future? What investment in Time, in Money, in friendships must you make now to be where you want to be then. What sacrifices must you make now to achieve your goals? Will you be appointed to a position of leadership? A good saying to remember is that the Lord does not call the qualified. He qualifies the called. Meaning you need to be prepared and put yourself forward.

In Conclusion, dare to be different, be that person who is focused to make a change and embrace diversity. One must find their calling and derive inspiration from it. Avoid the pitfalls and failures of the past generations. Silence the naysayers, the complainers and the detractors. Be the change you so desire to see in this Association. We can blame no one but ourselves if we don’t take advantage of the time we have on this earth to be better and make a positive impact on each other’s lives

Sustainable Tabling – Membership Drives - from a past Vice President & Chairman Something I often hear from organizations I’ve worked with is that increasing membership is one of their biggest challenges. The question I ask is, Is our Tabling Sustainable? It’s easy to focus on the role of leaders, but the success of any initiative requires widespread support. And you our member are our valuable allies: • Tablers implement our community and family initiatives and can contribute ideas based on their specific areas of expertise. Every Tablers can make a difference.

• Tablers promote our brand by conduct and community activities.

• Community work is important to establish our significant local.

Keeping your social license to operate within the community enables us to lead to collaborations on projects with local stakeholders

We must motivate our Tablers toward Membership Sustainability. To do this, we must: 1. We must equip Tablers with knowledge. Tablers need to know both why an action is important and how to do it. Tablers must be enlightened at a table level of their roles and responsibility as well as their commitments. Every year, membership conveners, go thru the handbook and constitution and make members aware of their responsibilities. Make them commit and remember their obligations.

Once capitation is paid, resend the handbook and constitution, and ask then to renew their license to be a Tablers. so being able to try new actions out in a small way can be reassuring 2. Help Tablers process information. Tablers absorb ideas and make decisions in specific ways Tablers are more affected by stories than by abstract statements. They’re more moved by positive messages and hearing a message multiple times, in multiple ways, is often necessary for it to sink in.

3. Tablers look to leaders. Lead by example. If others they respect by doing or endorsing behaviors, Tablers are likely to follow them. Avoid Group activities that are not life or career building. Partying if fun, but binge drinking and misbehave in your own capacity and do not wear regalia when doing so in public. We can show that we are professionals and well behaved.

4. Make Tabling easy and enjoyable. Tablers can have wonderful intentions, but without practical support, the action often won’t happen. Positive messages, social norms, and group activities can make sustainability-related behaviors seem more fun.

5. Allow participation, do not separate the councils from the people but let all have a say and sight of our goals. Some Tablers want to be involved in issues that concern them. Participation can mean many things, including just having information, but Tablers often want the opportunity to contribute ideas as well. Participation leads to positive attitudes and often innovative ideas.

6. Take one step at a time. Tablers can be overwhelmed by major change; they prefer to get comfortable with one behavior before they try another. Rebranding is a new initiative and will gradually start connecting it to things Tablers are already familiar with.

Too often, we look to a single leader to create change. Leaders need allies and supporters. Motivating others is easier when you build on Tablers inert drive to make a change. We need to support this for it to work Challenge toCurrentMembers:Hosta “BringA Friend”meeting:  Encourage members to bring someone. This could even be a recurring event so that new members are continually bringing new friends!  Reach out to former members  develop a pitch about their membership explain why are they members? What’s the biggest benefit of membership? Can they explain the purpose of the club?  Ask your members for recruitment ideas  Offer club business cards to your members  Offer an alternate meeting time to attract Tablers with different schedules.  Remind current members to greet newcomers and avoid club jargon when there are visitors.  Ask members to list their membership in their professional bios  Create an invitation email template your members can use  Encourage them to wear their pins everyday  Conduct exit interviews with departing members  Reward members who recruit new members  PRO to create a promotional video Members can share on social media.

Thank your members regularly. Tablers are the key to this organization, and we need to appreciate them I encourage all Tablers to try and drive Membership, as this is the lifeline of our association. Adapt, Adopt & Improve always…

10 WAYS TO COPE WITH A DIVORCE/ HEARTBREAK It can feel like your entire world is crashing when someone you love cheats on you. This feeling of pain and betrayal makes moving on from someone you love almost impossible.

If you aren’t careful to get your act together and move on with your life, you may never be able to get over it when your lover cheats and/or

leaves.

However, this post aims to keep you from falling into a funk if you look around one day and discover that leaving a relationship with someone you genuinely love is the best line of action for you. How do you cope

when the one you love cheats on you?

As much as you may not want to admit it, this is one common thing that happens in today’s world. Reports have it that there’s approximately one divorce for every 36 seconds that pass. This adds up to about 2400 divorces per day and about 16,800 divorces per week.

The numbers imply that people get separated from the ones they love frequently. It is a sad fact, but reflective, nonetheless. However, leaving someone you love (or being left by someone you love) doesn’t have to be the end of the world for you.

10 ways to deal when someone you love cheats on you As devastated as you may feel when someone you love cheats on you, you must find ways to deal with the situation and move on with your life with a positive outlook. There will be many more amazing experiences waiting for you on the other side.

Here are a few things you can do when your lover cheats on you. They’ll take the pain away and help you heal from that hurt.

1.

Take Some Time To Grieve.

While this may seem counterproductive, grieving in this context is the first step toward attaining complete healing.

If you cannot allow yourself the time and space, you need to just ‘feel,’ chances are

that you may end up bottling up the tension and hurt your mental health in the long run. This may spill over into other aspects of your life and reduce your productivity on

many levels.

When someone you love cheats on you or leaves your life, give yourself permission to

mind. If you don’t yet believe that you have all it takes to recover from the pain and move on with your life, you’d never feel the need to make any efforts at all.

Regardless of what you have to do, pep talks with self, affirmations, etc. – just condition your mind to believe that you can do life without them in the picture.

Assign Time To Do Specific Things All Day When the one you love cheats, it is possible that you may want to fall into a funk, bury your face in the sheets, hide away from the world and allow every day to pass.

However, this will give you more than enough time to obsess over how everything has gone wrong in your life.

Instead of falling down that rabbit hole, a little bit of daily planning can help you stay productive, even while you give yourself all the space you need to recover from your

loss. Using a to-do list can help you stay sane as there are other things to look forward to every day.

Talk To Someone Else You Trust

One of the reasons you don’t know how to deal with infidelity is that you tend to isolate yourself after discovering. If you recoil into yourself and push every other person away, you would have to deal with that pain, hurt, and rejection all by yourself. By putting another trusted person on speed dial, you open yourself up to be emotionally supported by them. Communication with other loved ones is what to do discover infidelity in your relationship 5.

Removing All Reminders This is one mistake many ex-couples make. One person walks out the door and the other is left in the rubble of everything that reminds them of the person that just walked out of their lives. This is not the wisest step you can take if you need help moving on from a relationship.

Depending on how emotionally stable you feel, you may want to spend some time wiping your space clean of everything that reminds you of them. This could include deleting all their photos from your gallery and even unfollowing them on social media. In any case, you don’t need those triggers.

Make Self-Care a Big Part of Your Life Now.

The truth is that once a significant other cheats on you, it can be challenging to get your life back on track and move on as nothing happened. However, when your heart is

broken and you don’t have anything else to hang on to, make self-care a huge part of your life.

Self-care can be anything, including incorporating better sleep practices into your day, exercising, and even going to your favorite eating spot all by yourself.

When someone leaves you, make it a point of duty to show yourself some serious love.

Commit that you wouldn’t turn to addictions to numb the pain

It is no news that there’s every chance that you would experience depression when someone you love leaves you. However, a MHA report on Alcohol, Substance abuse and Depression has shown that to relieve the misery of depression, many people tend to turn to substance abuse or alcoholism.

If addiction isn’t curbed immediately, it can lead to a series of activities that would only make them more miserable than they already are and lead to an unhealthy addiction.

While it seems easier to get lost under a bottle or to just turn to alcoholism to numb the pain, you will end up creating more problems for yourself if you approach the subject of healing from a breakup this way.

8. Treat it as a lesson.

How do you get over infidelity?

One simple trick you can try is to see what has happened as a lesson to learn from. Under these circumstances, it is common for your mind to begin playing games on you and making you feel that what has happened is your fault.

However, seeing what has happened as a lesson will help you approach this breakup as part of what can happen in life and help you recover speedily.

9. Don’t Try to Stay Friends

If what you shared with them was deep, you may want to keep the communication lines open – even if that means trying to remain friends with them immediately after they walk away from your life. This may not be the best idea.

As an act of self-care, try to give yourself all the room you need to recover from them. No matter how much time you need to pull this off, please do it. This is one of the major guarantees you get to be emotionally stable afterward.

10. Travel Travelling gives you something else to focus on and seeing new places can help channel your emotions in another direction. If you have always wanted to see some parts of the world, why not take this time to get that done?

Alcohol use disorder is a pattern of alcohol use that involves problems controlling your drinking, being preoccupied with alcohol or continuing to use alcohol even when it causes problems. This disorder also involves having to drink more to get the same effect or having withdrawal symptoms when you rapidly decrease or stop drinking. Alcohol use disorder includes a level of drinking that is sometimes called alcoholism. As young men, it is the Commonest substance abused, often resulting to poor decision making and a myriad of different health conditions.

It is recommended to either not drink at all or drink no more than 14 units of alcohol a week, spread across 3 days or more. There is no completely safe level of drinking, but sticking within these guidelines lowers one’s risk of health-related complications significantly.

The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) defines one standard unit or drink as any one of these: •

So what is a harmful and typically considered heavy drinking??

NIAAA defines heavy drinking as follows: For men, consuming more than 4 drinks on any day or more than 14 drinks per week

For women, consuming more than 3 drinks on any day or more than 7 drinks per week SAMHSA defines heavy alcohol use as binge drinking on 5 or more days in the past month Alcoholism is a disease and needs to be treated as such. It begins with selfawareness. In medicine according to the classification found in the Diagnosis and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders 4 th Edition (DSM 4) two general terms are used. Alcohol abuse and Alcohol Dependance.

Alcohol Abuse A maladaptive pattern of alcohol use leading to clinically significant impairment or distress, as manifested by one (or more) of the following, occurring within a 12month period: recurrent alcohol use resulting in a failure to fulfil major role obligations at work, school, or home (e.g., repeated absences or poor work performance related to alcohol use; alcohol-related absences, suspensions, or expulsions from school; neglect of children or household) recurrent alcohol use in situations in which it is physically hazardous (e.g., driving an automobile or operating a machine when impaired by alcohol use)
