Town of Brant’s Oldest Citizen Honored at the 15th Annual Brant Summer Festival

The Brant Summer Festival Committee was pleased to honor the Oldest Citizen of our town - Mrs. Josephine Battaglia! At the time of the festival Josephine was a mere 95 years of age, however on July 6th she celebrated her 96th year! Josephine received a celebratory “Oldest Citizen” ribbon and button. In recognition, Josephine also held a place of honor in the Summer Festival Sunday Parade, riding in a classic car owned and driven by Dan Josephine (Spratz) Battaglia; the oldest citizen of the Town of Brant! and Roseanne Gernatt.

Josephine has lived her entire life within the town of Brant boundaries - more specifically in the village of Farnham. She married Russell (the boy next door), and together they raised their three children in Farnham. Until two years ago, Josephine was co-historian of Farnham with Beverly Wasmund. Today, Josephine enjoys being with family and friends, playing golf, putting together jigsaw puzzles and feeding all the local birds! She is a busy and loveable lady! ------------------------------------Recognizing and remembering the past recipient of this award: You will recall that Angelo Militello Jr. has held the title of Brant’s Oldest Citizen for the past few years. Angelo turned 100 years old in December 2017. Sadly, Angelo passed away the day following his milestone century birthday. Contributed by the Brant - Farnham Historical Society ___________
