Dietmar Diesner has been giving solo concerts since 1981. Over the years he has incorporated gestures, mime and other theatrical elements into his concerts turning them into actual stage productions: royal marches outlying strategic bounds, unlikely battles, sudden pauses, energetic peace. Using “his” special technique of circular breathing allows him a type of movement that surprises the audience when it clashes with the continuity of sound. Saxophon-actor “almost” becomes a choreography, confusing us by its so personal nature and sound : is it a sax? Dietmar performs and improvises, even in response to the audience’s reactions, and he sometimes changes the structure of his pieces by virture of his own particular “sense of space.”
