Visiting The Angel Hotel Eat, Drink The Angel Hotel is open every day except Christmas Day. On Christmas Eve and Boxing Day the hotel will close at 4.00pm. From Friday 27 to Monday 30 December the hotel will be open from 10.00am to 6.00pm. Our usual service times are listed below. Christmas Parties 6, 7, 13, 14, 20 December Held in the splendid Ballroom, decorated with spruce and soft candlelight, these are the most popular Christmas festivities at The Angel. Share the party night with other revellers, or book the room exclusively for your celebrations for up to 135 guests. You are welcomed between 7.00pm and 7.30pm with a glass of fizz. Enjoy super food with attentive service before taking to the dance floor with live music and a disco. The bar is open until midnight, with dancing until 12.30am. Afternoon Tea From 30 November, excluding 24, 25, 26, 27, 31 December & 1 January We are delighted to have received the Tea Guild’s prestigious Award of Excellence every year since 2008. Afternoon Tea at The Angel is an elegant, unhurried affair: silver tiered cake stands, bone china, crisp white linen, tea lights and unobtrusive service. Throughout December we offer carefully chosen winter teas and infusions and a range of seasonal treats including mince pies, stollen, Christmas cake and mulled wine. On the four weekends prior to Christmas there is festive music in the hotel during Afternoon Tea service. Tea is served from 2.30pm to 5.30pm, with the exception of 28 to 30 December when bookings are available from 2.30pm to 5.00pm only. Reservations are essential, and children may share. Private Dining in The Cellar 30 November - 23 December For groups of 10 to 14 people Be one of the first to enjoy Christmas celebrations in our newest private dining room, The Cellar. Discretely tucked away in the basement and accessed via a spiral staircase, it features the hotel’s wine cellar as a backdrop. The blue leather chairs contrast with the earthy tones of the stone walls and floor. Boxing Day Come and see one of Abergavenny’s long-standing Christmas traditions - the horses and hounds of the Monmouthshire Hunt meet outside The Angel Hotel at 11.00am, as they have done each Boxing Day for over 80 years. Whatever the weather, we serve mulled wine and mince pies to the riders. The hotel opens at 10.00am today, so you’ve time to come inside and enjoy a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie before watching the spectacle in the street. From 12 noon to 3.00pm hot sandwiches and chips may be purchased in the Foxhunter, where there’s plenty of space for a casual lunch. Our Boxing Day Luncheon Menu (see page 19) is served from 12 noon to 2.30pm.
