Saturday 24th September 8pm “Dave plays like he got his skin turned inside out and pretty soon my skin was inside out too listening and it was all good. That boy bleeds for you – he a real down deep player and a soul man…” - Seasick Steve Slide guitarist & songwriter Dave Arcari’s alt. blues sounds owe as much to trash country, punk and rockabilly as they do pre-war Delta blues and have been showcased via nine internationally-acclaimed solo CD releases. A new album 'Givers and Takers' is set for release in September 2016 to coincide with his sixth US tour. His last release 'Hellbound Train' in June 2016 hit specialist radio charts worldwide. As well as ongoing UK touring, Arcari plays regular shows in the USA (including official showcases at SXSW in

Saturday 1st October 8pm

Austin, Texas), Finland, Estonia, France, Germany, Belgium, Poland and Canada. Arcari is one of the hardest gigging live artists on the circuit. A series of shows with folks including Steve Earle, Alabama 3, Seasick Steve, Toby Keith and Jon Spencer along with his relentless UK and overseas schedule have established Arcari as a formidable international solo performer with a reputation as a ‘hellraising National guitar madman’.

AYDMS Senior Section are back with a bang with the fantastic hit musical Sister Act! Based on the 1992 film of the same name, Sister Act tells the story of aspiring disco diva Deloris Van Cartier. Trying to work her way to the top in 1970s Philadelphia, Deloris falls in love with a very tough - and very married - gangster boyfriend named Curtis, and when Deloris witnesses him commit a murder she ends up in hiding on police orders in a convent whose parish has fallen on hard times. Though the sequinfree lifestyle doesn’t agree with her, Deloris finds her calling working with the choir, and breathes new life into the dusty convent while discovering a sisterhood she’s never had before.

'The Revlon Girl' is an original play based on the events surrounding the Aberfan Disaster of 1966. Written by Neil Anthony Docking (‘Casualty’, ‘Emmerdale’), directed by Maxine Evans (‘Stella’, ‘Call The Midwife’) and set 8 months after the tragedy, the play draws on the real life story of a small group of bereaved mothers who met every Tuesday above a local hotel to talk, cry and even laugh (without feeling guilty). At one of their meetings, the women looked at each other and realised how much they had let themselves go. Afraid that people would think them frivolous, they secretly arranged for a representative from Revlon to come and give a talk on beauty tips.

It's An Act LTD present

Thursday 13th – Saturday 15th October 7pm plus Saturday matinee 2:30pm Tickets £8 It’s 1959 and Rydell High School’s senior class is in rare form. The too-cool-for-school “Burger Palace Boys” are stealing hub-caps and acting tough and their gumsnapping, chain-smoking “Pink Ladies” are looking hot in bobby socks and pedal pushers. The 1950s high school dream is about to explode in this rollicking musical that is both an homage to the idealism of the fifties and a satire of high schoolers’ age-old desire to be rebellious and provocative. At the heart of the story is the romance between hot-rodding gangster Danny Zuko and the sweet new girl in town, Sandy Dumbrowski. They had a secret romance in summer, but now back in the context of school, peer-pressure and cliques make their love a bit more complicated.

Friday 21st October 7:30pm Can Danny maintain his cool dude status and still get make demure Sandy his girl? The whole gang sings and dances around Danny and Sandy’s romance, through such hit songs as "Greased Lightnin'", "We Go Together”, and “Mooning”, recalling the music of Buddy Holly, Little Richard and Elvis Presley that became the soundtrack of a generation. Starting off with an eight-year Broadway run, Grease is among the world’s most popular musicals and has a cult-like following, especially among teens!

Grease

Big Mac’s were formed in 1990 as the house band for the legendary Hollywood Club in Newport. The line up is that of tenor sax, trumpet and trombone, bass, drums, guitar, keyboards, two dynamic female vocalists and charismatic frontman Mike ‘Big Mac’ McNamara. Mike is a soul singer in the purest sense of the word, thus the band, though more than adept at producing the raw edged originals of Wilson Pickett, Sam and Dave, Otis Redding and James Brown, are also proficient in the more polished spheres of black music, Motown, Philly, Funk and those glorious vocal harmony drenched ballads. Vocalists, however, are only as good as their backing band permits and Big Mac has The Wholly Soul Band… easily the best in the business.

It’s An Act present the comedy drama Two by Jim Cartwright set in a working class pub in the South Wales valleys. The play has fourteen characters in total played by just “Two” actors. The play centres around an action packed night in a pub, the range of different customers who frequent the bar and the relationship between them. Its main characters, the Landlord and Landlady, interlace a variety of characters each affected by another specific character. At extremes with each other; he the hands on money-in-till manager, she the gossipy heart of the bar, their façade ultimately cracks when a young boy in search of his missing dad appears and they are forced to face the loss of their child years before.

Throughout the play you will meet a range of different characters that change the pace of the play, taking you on a rollercoaster ride of emotional highs and lows. Two opened at the Young Vic London in November 1990 to rave reviews. ‘The writing is brilliantly, surrealistically and comically poetic’ - Sunday Times ‘This richly textured piece is an assured and highly entertaining show’ - Independent
