Connectors A) Expressing contrast (contraste). Para contrastar dos ideas podemos utilizar los siguientes conectores: I – Despite (a pesar de). Ejemplos: Despite his illness, he went to work. Despite being ill, he went to work. Despite the fact that he was ill, he went to work. He was ill. Despite that, he went to work.
II – In spite of: tiene el mismo significado que “despite”. In spite of his illness, he went to work. In spite of being ill, he went to work. In spite of the fact that he was ill, he went to work. He was ill. In spite of that, he went to work.
III – Although (aunque). Es una conjunción. Va seguida de un sujeto y el verbo correspondiente: Although he was ill, he went to work.
IV- Even though. Tiene el mismo significado que “although”, pero es más enfático. Even though he was ill, he went to work.

+ Noun phrase + V-ing + the fact hat + S + V
V – However / Nevertheless (sin embargo) He was ill. However, he went to work.
VI – On the one hand / On the other hand: por una parte / por otra parte.
B) Connectors of addition. Se utilizan para dar continuidad a la idea que estamos expresando. Son los siguientes: In addition (además) In addition to (además de) Furthermore (además) Then (entonces) Besides (además) Moreover (además) Also (además)
