It is with great pleasure that we celebrate the 6th year of this remarkable gathering of women—and men—who represent our leaders of today and tomorrow. The distinguished speakers joining us this year have made substantive contributions to the world in which we live, along the way breaking barriers and paving the way for those yet to come. Over the next two days, they will discuss the winds of change that have seen unprecedented numbers of women stepping up to leadership—in elected office, corporate c–suites, small business launches, and grassroots movements that are transforming the world we live in. The Andrus Center is committed to gender equity in leadership positions throughout our state and our country. Your participation in this year’s conference, coupled with your desire and commitment to work toward equal opportunities for all individuals regardless of gender, are key ingredients toward achieving that goal. We encourage you over the next two days to take the time to introduce yourself to our speakers, networking leaders, skill builder presenters, and fellow attendees. Every person you interact with broadens your perspective and opportunity for impact and harnesses the collective power of those who will shape the forces of leadership toward inclusion and equity for all. Tracy Andrus, President & Chair John Freemuth, Executive Director Andrus Center for Public Policy

We Sagebrush Folks Our new series, Idaho Experience, showcases the extraordinary people and events that shaped Idaho. On October 25, watch for an in-depth look at the Idaho writer and teacher Annie Pike Greenwood, who penned We Sagebrush Folks. Published in 1934, the memoir chronicles the often grueling lives of farmers and their families in the Hazelton area during the turn of the 20th century, when Greenwood lived there. The book was hailed by the New York Times as “one of the most poignant portrayals yet made of the thankless lives of toil, the hard fates and heroic spirits of the farm women of the West.” The documentary also takes viewers into the aging and mysterious Greenwood School, named for the author. Major funding for Idaho Experience provided by the J.A. and Kathryn Albertson Family Foundation, Anne Voillequé and Louise Nelson, and Judy and Steve Meyer. Additional support provided by the Friends of Idaho Public Television, the Friends of Idaho Public Television Endowment, and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

GEENA DAVIS ACADEMY AWARD WINNING ACTRESS & FOUNDER | GEENA DAVIS INSTITUTE ON GENDER IN MEDIA Academy Award winner Geena Davis, one of Hollywood’s most respected actors, is recognized for her tireless advocacy of gender equality in media nearly as much as for her acting accomplishments. She is the Founder and Chair of the non–profit Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media, which is successfully influencing film and television content creators to dramatically increase the percentages of female characters—and reduce gender stereotyping—in media targeting children 11 and under. In 2015, Davis launched the Bentonville Film Festival (BFF), an unprecedented initiative in support of women and diversity in the entertainment industry and serves as its Co–Founder and Chair. BFF provides a platform to significantly boost the commercial value of content produced and starring minorities and women. This initiative is the only film festival to provide guaranteed theatrical, television, digital and home entertainment distribution for the winners. In 2012, Davis was appointed Special Envoy for Women and Girls in ICT for the UN’s International Telecommunication Union(ITU). She is an official partner of UN Women, working toward their goal of promoting gender equality and empowering women worldwide. Davis is also the Chair of the California Commission on the Status of Women. As an actor, Davis has appeared in several roles that have become cultural landmarks. Earning the 2006 Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series Drama, Davis broke ground in her portrayal of the first female President of the United States in ABC’s hit show “Commander in Chief.” Few have achieved such remarkable success in as many different fields as Davis has: she is not only an award winning actor, but a world–class athlete (at one time the nation’s 13th–ranked archer, and a semi–finalist in the Olympic Trials), and a member of the genius society Mensa. Davis holds honorary degrees from Boston University, Bates College and New England College. WOMEN AND LEADERSHIP 2018 | 19
