the area, the Everglades, foresaw a storm approaching and they warned many of the workers to flee to safe ground. Many obeyed, but Tea Cake, Janie, and Motorboat decided to stay due to the good life they have created for themselves. This was probably the biggest mistake they have ever made. The storm hit, and it hit hard. Once the hurricane came close to shore, Tea Cake and Janie decided to find high ground. The wind and rain was quite fierce and Janie was struggling to keep up. She was suddenly swept away and she grabbed ahold of a cow tail. This cow's tail was a double edged sword, it saved her life, but there was a ferocious dog atop it. Janie was in his line of fire, so Tea Cake jumped in front and slayed the beast, but he did not come out unscathed. Tea Cake was bitten on the cheek. Both Janie and Tea Cake survive the devastating storm, but not without repercussions. Tea Cake became crazy, it was all due to the dogs bite, he contracted rabies. Janie was heartbroken she tried to help him, but he was too far gone. One night he accused her of cheating and then proceeded to pull a gun on her. In self defense she shot him, killing him, Janie has been through some rough times, but she is back in Eatonville to share her story in full detail.
