Welcome to the March/April issue...

Front Cover Pictures

Spring is in the air which means attractions and historic houses re-open for the season and lots of events are taking place including local musical theatre company productions. Planning an event this year, launching a new business, or does your existing business need a wee bit more promotion then we will be more than happy to have a chat and discuss some options to enable you to be seen by locals AND visitors throughout the Scottish Borders, North Northumberland and surrounding areas. Visit our box office and buy tickets for your next day/night out in the Borders - music, theatre, children’s events and much more. (pg. 38) Don’t forget to mention ‘borderevents’ when attending an event or responding to an advert. Why not come along to this year’s Borders Business, Events and Visitors Fair in Melrose on Wednesday 6th March. This FREE event is open to everyone - The one stop shop for everything happening in the Borders - network, shop, collect and exchange information.

Borders playwrights are creating a new theatrical experience for local audiences. Borders Pub Theatre launches on Saturday, 23rd March at the County Hotel in Selkirk; 7.30pm, entry £3 at door, to showcase and encourage new playwriting in the region. The initiative is based on the successful "scratch nights" staged at the Village Pub Theatre in Leith. The local event, In The Beginning, will be directed by VPT founder Caitlin Skinner and director Claire Prenton, with invited actors performing the short, script-in-hand dramas. Borders Pub Theatre has been devised by playwrights on the Scottish Borders Playwriting Programme, run by Playwrights' Studio, Scotland. That course was mentored by the organisation's associate playwright, Jules Horne, an award-winning playwright from Hawick.
