TEATRO VISTA THEATER DESIGN INTENTION

As an adaptive re-use project, we allow the history of the funeral home to live through the idea of procession. A parallel is drawn between the choreography of theater and funeral ritual to emphasize the shared event. Considering procession, we develop a sequence beginning within the community in order to create an common language between the theater and neighborhood. A sequence of spaces intends to build anticipation of the performance. The performance spaces allow visitors to be fully engaged in the theatrical experience. Visitors exit through the back of house, embodying the memory of the performance.
