Dear Readers, Our May Women’s Wellness issue arrives with spring in the air and “Her Soul in Bloom: Self-Care for All Stages of Life”, Marlaina Donato’s blissful feature on the importance of me-time. Me-time might include some bodywork to help deal when emotions are physical as detailed in another feature by Marlaina. Christiane Northrup suggests we connect with the energy that made us, be that our own Mother or Mother Earth. Both women and men will be encouraged by Randy Kambic’s interview with “Peter Sagal on Running Toward Mindfulness”. The popular National Public Radio host talks about healing a wounded psyche by unplugging and embracing the natural world -- and you don’t have to run a marathon to do it. Fruits and vegetables are the focus of Melinda Hemmelgarn’s “Vision Quest: Eat a Rainbow of Color for Healthy Eyes”. Two specific nutrients have been shown to reduce the risk and slow the progression of cataracts and macular degeneration—the two most common age- and diet-related causes of vision loss. We all know how smart it is to eat a plant-based diet, but did you know how smart plants are? People have been talking to plants for years, but did you know they talk to each other? April Thompson’s “Plants Talk: Discover Their Secret Language” is a fascinating look at how they communicate to defend themselves and assist their neighbors in the most extraordinary ways. Happy Mother’s Day. Enjoy,

How Do You Like Me Now? By Jennifer Yoswa 6

New Mexico

Jennifer Yoswa is a self-taught artist. She was in her midthirties when the urge to create became more powerful than her fear of failure. Oil painting quickly became her passion and a part of her spirit. Although Yoswa is an introvert and putting herself “out there” is a real stretch, she paints because she has something to say…about life, about love, about loss. She is inspired by poetry, song lyrics, things people say, dreams and experiences. She is currently working on a series that challenges female gender stereotypes called, ”That's Not Ladylike."
