Health & Wellness Resources from Southwestern College Dr. Ann Filemyr, Ph.D., became the fourth President of Southwestern College on February 1, 2019. She brings her unique vision, creativity, dedication and 29 years of experience in higher education to this new role. Her leadership is based in partnership, and she seeks to broaden and deepen the partnerships between the college and the Santa Fe community. The unique educational model of Southwestern College is based in transformational teaching and learning to deepen self-knowledge, enhance self-awareness, and develop professional skills. THERAPEUTIC SERVICES Tierra Nueva Counseling Center, located at 3952 San Felipe Road, 87507 offers sliding scale services by our therapists-in-training for individuals, families, couples and groups. CONTINUING EDUCATION Our New Earth Institute (NEI) offers weekend intensive courses in seven Certificates for healthcare professionals needing Continuing Education Credits (CECs). These courses are also open to the public. The seven Certificates are: Addiction, Abuse and Recovery; Applied Interpersonal Neurobiology; Children’s Mental Health; Infant Mental Health; Ecotherapy; Human Sexuality; Trauma, Grief and Renewal. This year our conference will be, “Numinous Dimensions of Consciousness & Healing.” Keynote Eben Alexander, M.D., author of the bestseller, Proof of Heaven, will be presenting with Karen Newell on their recent book, Living in a Mindful Universe. The next one is Wednesday, May 29, 6:30-8:30 p.m. and features Art Therapy faculty member, Magdalena Karlick, speaking about leadership as a mother, teacher, art therapist, clinical supervisor and as a student. The title of her talk is, “Revisiting Leadership as an International Student.” This event is free and open to the public, or $20 for 2 CECs. Email to reserve a seat.
